ergonomic, efficient and effective at moving snow
The version of the product that I am reviewing has a plastic head/scoop/blade, with a metal edge along the mouth of the scoop, matching the photo of the product shown on the Amazon product page. This product saw its debut on 12-27-10 when my driveway/sidewalk (in NJ) and most of the northeast... -
Love the design, not sure about the wear strip
I just bought one and used it on my driveway and sidewalk tonight. Overall, I was very impressed with the design. I "pushed" most of the snow and lifted very little of it. Compared to other shovels I used, I love this one. My back is thanking me. Like the other reviewers, I also found that it...

I had a foreboding sense of danger at times. There was nothing concrete I could put my finger on, and certainly nothing I would fear; yet I was certain something terrible, or at least something that would dramatically change my life, was about to happen. It would take but a few short months to face that danger firsthand, and I would most definitely face it head-on in the worst winter storm imaginable on the high seas. When Jim Pierrot dropped out of high school and joined the navy at seventeen, it did not look to outsiders like he could possibly be destined to succeed. He quickly learned to make the most of his situation though. He faced a range of exciting and dangerous situations. Whether he was delivering the governor and his entourage ashore during a nighttime squall or preventing a destroyer from running aground during a high-wind torrential downpour, Jim always pushed himself to do his best. His adventures are thrilling, and his journey from a dropout to a distinguished sailor is...

ISD students learn about manufacturing from the pros
Courtesy photo
Fifty-five students from the Delta-Schoolcraft ISD Welding Program travelled to Iron Mountain recently to visit both the Boss Snowplow and Systems Control manufacturing facilities. Both facilities provided students with the opportunity to tour the entire product production process. This process included the steps beginning with the product idea through product assembly. In addition, students were introduced to the many job opportunities that could be available to them following high school. The main objective of this trip was to allow students to see career opportunities that are available in close by communities. It was also very helpful to see firsthand the number of career choices that do not require a four year college degree. Trent Bellingar, the DSISD welding instructor said, "It is important for us to provide our students with the resources that will spark their interests while providing them with a skill that will allow them to be competitive in today's job market. The more career related exposures we can give to our students the better choices they will make in high school and beyond."

Boss Snowplow to be featured on "World's Greatest" : News ...
IRON MOUNTAIN -- For the last 24 years, Boss Snowplow in Iron Mountain has become one of the top snowplow manufacturers in the world. Now they are being recognized for it.
Boss will be featured in an upcoming episode of the "World's Greatest," a distinction the company takes pride in.
"We believe that we've got the best product out there,” said Boss Executive Vice President Dave Brule II. “We tell our customers we think it's the best product. It's nice to get some third party validation that it is the best product. I think most of our customers believe in it."
Boss officials were interviewed and graded based on product, customer service, and customer satisfaction.
After being selected, Boss gave the show's camera crew and Upper Michigan’s Source a behind-the-scenes look at how it all happens.
"We process tens of thousands of pounds of steel a day here all year long, and we've got to make sure everybody's safe, so it takes a lot of coordination,” said Boss Marketing Manager Mark Klossner. “Then at the end of the day, you're happy that you got a great looking snippet on film."
Boss also is one of the largest employers in Dickinson County with about 200 people working at the Iron Mountain factory.
Tens of thousands of snowplows are completed at Boss every year, and while having the distinction as the world’s greatest is important for the company, it also says a lot about the community.
"When people see the finished product from the “World's Greatest” television show, they'll see that story starts with the work ethic of U.P. people,” Klossner said. “That's really where this whole success story begins."
Boss' feature on "World's Greatest" will run in November on the Ion Network.
