(ABC 6 NEWS) -- Only nine days left before the new year, and the ground still isn't covered in snow.
It's simply amazing to see just many people rely on that wet white powder.
"It's pretty dismal. Basically no ability to ski at all," Rochester nordic ski coach Henry Hocraffer said.
For Hocraffer and his daugher Amy, who is home from North Carolina, skiing is tradition.
"I've been skiing with my dad since I was a little kid," Amy Hocraffer said.
But instead of white covered trails, all you can see is brown ground and bare branches.
"I've been doing my snow dances and crossing my fingers and we're all anxious for the snow to come," Quarry Hill Nature Center Executive Director Pam Meyer said.
