Or should I buy a real plow like a Western or Meyers plow with all the extra cost and upkeep. I am only doing my 800 foot gravel drive. Not using it for a business. Please help me in my decision.
If you are in a heavy snow area you are going to need to stack snow to make room for more, unless you plan to just plow one way and push it all out into the main road. Pretty hard to pile snow with a blade that hasn't got a lift feature. If it were

Ariens makes a non-stick spray called, Sno-Jet. It sells for 14.99 a can, and can be found at www.snowblowersdirect.com. You can try to improvise with a teflon coating, which John Deere sells for coating the underside of the mower deck. Good Luck
Winter is coming and Thomas, being a small engine, needs to put on his snowplow. Thomas hates his snowplow; he thinks it makes him look funny, and when he has it on, the other, bigger engines tease him. But Thomas saves the day when a big storm comes up and Toby is stuck on his branch line.
The redoubtable Grandma-this books is a sequel to Grandma Drove the Garbage Truck-is at it again. In addition to collecting the town's garbage, Grandma and her sons also plow the roads in the winter. But what happens when a blizzard comes through, it's the day of the big town carol sing, and Grandma's sons are all stuck in the snow and unable to plow? Leave it to Grandma to clear the way to the church for the carol sing. With more help from her grandson Billy, she gets the streets clear and helps out her neighbors in the process, too. In fact, Grandma does such a good job with the plowing, she even beats Santa to the carol sing.

Snowfall, snowplowing to continue through tomorrow
Castle Rock now is under a winter storm warning until 5 a.m. Saturday. The previous blizzard warning has been canceled. Still, another foot or more of snow could fall before the storm moves out of the area late tomorrow morning, according to the National Weather Service.
Town snowplow crews will continue working around-the-clock through at least 2 p.m. Saturday, with a focus on keeping main streets safe for traffic and emergency responders. Residential streets are being plowed as well. Visit CRgov.com/plowtracker to see an estimated timeframe for a plow's arrival in your area. The Town's plowing standard on residential streets is a single passable lane to meet the needs of emergency responders.
The Police and Fire departments have responded to a handful of accidents throughout the storm, but none have had serious injuries. Those who must travel during the storm should keep food, water, a flashlight and dry clothing in their vehicles and should stay with their vehicles if they become stranded.
$98000 snowplow simulators let drivers practice: Watch out for ...
The snow is virtual, but the white knuckles on the steering wheels are real.
That's the experience snowplow drivers and would-be snowplow drivers are getting on the Minnesota Department of Transportation's new snowplow simulators.
The $98,000 devices are replicas of snowplow cabs, with steering wheels, brake, accelerator and clutch pedals, gear shifts, ignition keys, turn signals and horns.
Three 42-inch flat plasma television screens play the role of the windshields and side windows. Dashboard controls adjust the virtual mirrors, strobe lights, snowplow blades and salt spreader. There's a knob to adjust a real dashboard ventilation fan. About the only thing missing is a coffee cup holder.
"I've been asked about that," said Bradley Swartz, a MnDOT employee who helps train drivers on the simulator.
With the help of a bank of computers, the simulator allows drivers to practice hundreds of plowing scenarios, from mountain two-laners to interstate highways to built-up urban areas, in bright sunlight as well as nighttime blizzards.
The computers can be dialed up to provide a menu of hazards from glare ice to high winds.
If the driver steers too far to the side of the road, he'll feel the steering wheel vibrate because he's strayed onto a rumble strip. If he seems to get a little complacent, the trainers can tell the computers to simulate a blown tire. If a student fails to notice the warning light showing the brake's air pressure system has blown, eventually the wheels will start to smoke and the engine will overheat.
"We put a little pressure on them," said Andrew Kubista, coordinator of the simulator program. "One thing we always utilize is a deer jumping out of the ditch."
"I can throw the kitchen sink at them. Everything short of a hurricane," Swartz said.
"We can do a hurricane too," Kubista said.
And the simulator programmers haven't forgotten the most dangerous hazard of all: other people. A simulator session is likely to include...
