Lubbock Snow Plows Huge Help to Midland/Odessa 1/10/12

The slush that is out on the roads has turned to ice overnight.

To decrease on the danger that black ice presents, TxDOT called in for some extra help.

Snow-plows from Lubbock made their to our area yesterday afternoon. The roads were so bad on the way to Midland that they plowed for part of the trip.

Once the plows made it to our area, you could see the difference as you drove. All of the snow that was once on the road is now pushed to the side; making for much safer driving conditions.

TxDOT officials say these snow plows are bigger than what we have and have been a tremendous help.

"These snow plows move a lot faster than what we have with our maintainers. It'll be a big help, we really appreciate them," TxDOT Public Information Officer, Gene Powell said.

Eight trucks came down to help, all working major roads between Midland and Odessa.

The crews made it back out this morning to clear off
