  1. Must have for snow!
I finally got a Snow Brum after living in the northeast my whole life. I can't believe I've wasted so much time with a regualr snow brush. And this is a required tool if you have an SUV and hate having 50 pounds of snow slide down your wind shield when ever you hit the brakes. You can clean...
  2. Great Product
I bought my first one a number of years ago at a chain store and was skeptical but then after using it to push off huge amounts of snow with one sweep I was hooked. The telescoping handle is nice and reaches high over the car. Lots of heavy snow can be removed in a few minutes unlike a snow...

Plow Truck Driver: It is never safe to pass a plow truck | WDAY ...

Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - The first snow fall tested Fargo workers. A few kinks to work out with the plows, but most difficult was keeping up with the snow. Plows started at 7 this morning and will be working around the clock. They're trying to clear the city by tomorrow morning.

The focus today was on the main roads, and they'll begin working on neighborhoods tonight. Workers say the snow was easy on the equipment, but it was hard to keep up with.

“As far as plowing it off the streets, it's not heavy; it's pretty easy to plow actually. Just when it's snowing an inch an hour it's hard to tell where we've been.”

To be prepared for the first big snow, the public works staff has been on split shifts since the beginning of November.

If this morning is any indication of how the snow clearing season will go, plow truck drivers say it could be a very long year. Snow Plow Drivers dodged a few bullets as they were throwing a cloud of snow in the air this morning.

Snow plow drivers say it didn't take long this morning before vehicles started breaking the golden rule. Never pass a plow truck.

"When they do that, they don't realize that we're coming in and out of islands and if they come up to the front side of a plow, odds are we might run into them because we're watching other things."

Dwight Dullum is in his 12th year of working for Fargo, all of them spent right here in the truck, plowing roads every winter. In all of his years he says he has never encountered a scenario in Fargo where it's okay and safe to pass the plow truck.

"Stay back let us do our job. Get the roads clean for you and you'll get there a lot safer if you don't try and pass us."

Dullum says especially with snow like today, people should stay back because all around the truck is a thick white cloud.

"Pretty light and fluffy that's for sure, but you sure can stay back it isn’t going to hurt my feelings."

Polyurethane Snow Plow Blade - The Urethane Blog

Walsh said the City of Beloit won the North American Snow and Ice Control Model City Award in 2009 for being so progressive in snow removal practices. The city was awarded use of the Epoke for a season. The machine’s Canadian manufacturer wanted to see if it saves communities’ money. If the machine is proved cost effective, the city may consider purchasing it in the future. The city will continue to test the Wausau-Everest polyurethane plastic blade it was awarded in January. The heavy wet snow will theoretically slide off it easier than the traditional steel blades. It has already proven it saves on fuel expenses, but the DPW wants to test it more this December when the wettest and heaviest snow tends to fall. Walsh noted the steel blades are orange and the new test blade is blue. The good news is there is plenty of salt for the city, with a remaining supply from 2008 and 2009. There is also an ample supply of beet juice. Because the chilly rain may turn to freezing rain or snow, the DPW has sprayed bridge decks in Beloit. It may spray some more salt brine right before Thanksgiving, depending on weather conditions.
