Bobcat: Master of Survival tells the story of the most adaptable and resilient wild feline in the world. While half the wild cat species worldwide are in danger, the bobcat is thriving, even expanding its range in North America. Why are bobcats flourishing when so many other wild felines are advancing towards extinction? The book explains how scientists apply the latest in wildlife research technology to probe this diminutive predator's habits and behavior. The reader is invited inside the bobcat's world to see how they hunt, kill prey, raise their young, coexist with humans, and deftly navigate the endless obstacles to survival. The bobcat is both the most studied and the most exploited wild feline in the world. Millions have been killed for the fur trade. They were the focus of major controversy in the 1970s that transformed international conservation of wild felines. The book discusses how economics and politics play a far greater role in bobcat management and conservation than does science....

The City is Ready, The Only Thing Missing is Snow
After Hoboken was pummeled with 20 inches and crippled by multiple snow storms last winter, the city has beefed up its snow preparedness this year.
And while a more snow plowers, a snow melter and a reverse 911 system are ready to go, the only thing missing is the snow itself.
This year, the city has more snow plows available than last year and will be using brine, on top of regular salt to prepare the streets for a slushy mess.
According to city spokesman Juan Melli, the department of environmental services has nine plow trucks—six pickup trucks with plows and three big salt spreaders with plows. The Hoboken Parking Utility and the parks as well as fire departments each have two trucks that the city can also use.
Melli said also that the city will have a bobcat available this year. The city has also entered into an agreement to rent a snow melter, in case of a particularly heavy blizzard. The city has also made repairs to the city's front end loader. With a recently passed bond, the city is buying a new one as well, Melli said.

...Tire choices when using the plow? - MyTractorForum.com - The ...
I'd like to try using the plow this year for the first time on the Com 12 instead of the old blower and was wondering what would be the better choice for tires. I have the 18x6 turfs, and 4x8 bars available, I could dual up as I have the spacers and extra 4x8 rims, however I dont have any chains for either size. For those who have used the plow what tire/chain combination do you prefer? Which ones do you think would do best in the normal PA white slop, our snow tends to be wet most of the time, not the dry fluffy stuff. My preferred C8 plow setup is 4 tubed Ag's in a dual setup w/spacers and chains on the outside tires. Have no experience with turfs, but I did run a set of solid Ag's and I found them to be inferior for just about everything (garden work, brush hog work, snow) due to the flat contour. Due to their weight, they would be a second choice for snow work, but I would chain them and place them on the outside of a dual setup.
