Heated door mat
I purchased this heated mat because my 87 year old Mom moved in and was also recoveing from a broken hip. the mat is great but there are problems. Once the ice and snow melts off, it freezes a band on the outer edge of the mat that is not heated. Another issue is that you need to go out and lift... -

Creates a dry spot which is good, I don't like that the enclosed element and mat don't stay laminated together internally. I don't feel this should be normal. Work's good as a first step device. Be nice if there were other competitive products/different sizes out there...

as the question states, the floor drain overflows a little (but enough to be annoying) when water is run any where in the house. I rented a motorized snake machine and did that, pulled up some stuff but didn't fix the problem.
Your main drain is still partially clogged.
Call a plumber - they have much bigger drain snakes than you or I could normally get.
Sometimes they might have to run the snake all the way to the street to clear it.

Cordova uses melting machine to reduce mountains of snow
Once snow is removed, it's moved to large dump piles. The city is now using front-end loaders to take scoop after scoop from those piles to a snow-melting machine. The melted snow then goes down city drains.
City spokesman Allen Marquette says they are trying to get the snow dumps cleared before the next barrage of snow hits the city.
The current snow system is expected to move out Friday but temperatures will drop, making the snow more difficult to shovel.
As residents in the fishing town and 57 Alaska National Guard members have tried to dig out, they learned that they didn't have the right tool for the job.
There were plenty of regular shovels around. But what they needed was a larger version with a scoop that can push a cubic foot of snow or better at a time.
"That's what's missing in Alaska," city spokesman Tim Joyce said.

Good evening once again. I wanted to drop by for a qucik update to let you know the NWS radars are down across much of the country and have been for a few hours now. This makes it difficult to track the snow showers and squalls that are breaking out right now across our region. A snow shower is in the process of coating the ground again where I live.
Winds this evening will be VERY gusty and blow the powdery snow around. Keep giving us updates from where you live.

Good afternoon gang. The snow showers and squalls should be kicking in over the next few hours and be in full swing during the evening and overnight. I still like the snow maps I put out earlier as we will see waves of these squalls through Tuesday night into Wednesday morning.
The air over the next few days is COLD to say the least. There is a chance some areas dont get out of the teens tomorrow. Wow! Throw in gusty winds and it will feel like temps are in the single digits.

Good Sunday everyone. Let me begin by saying a big thanks for all the snow and weather reports with the Saturday wintry blast. You guys rock! The clipper behaved according to the plan we laid out several days ago and it is always good to start off the winter season on a good forecasting note. Now we have the challenge of a heck of shot of arctic air and a prolonged period of snow showers and squalls that should lead to more accumulations. Temps will be the other big story as readings start to tank. Highs will generally be in the upper 20s today then drop way down over the next few days. Readings in the low 20s for highs will be common for many areas for Monday and Tuesday. Lows will hit the teens both mornings and by Wednesday... we could be seeing temps TRYING to get into single digits if we can clear the skies out a bit. The NAM likes this idea... This pattern shows no signs of breaking as far as I can see and that means we have a lot of cold and snow chances through December and likely into early January. This round of arctic cold will ease a bit by Thursday and Friday... but temps remain on the cold side. A new clipper should be working in from the northwest and could bring a mix/snow to snow situation by Friday. That is one to watch. Colder air will follow that for the weekend as we await the arrival of an arctic front about a week from now. There is a strong signal showing up for an arctic wave to develop along this front and sweep eastward across the region. If this is the case... we will have to be on guard as these waves can sometimes blow up into big storms across the eastern part of the country. Back in the hollar at Oldtown in Greenup Co., the snow has began to fall and is beginning to stick. The kids are keeping their fingers crossed, hoping they'll be out of school tomorrow! Most of the last snowfall melted during the day today...still some slick spots out there. I'm sure whatever falls will make the roads more hazardous. So be careful out there!!! Greetings from the quiet ridgetop near Prichard, Wayne Co., WV. At 6:45 AM light snow is falling on the ridgetop and it is 26 degrees. Total accumulation thus far is just over three inches. Ice is present under the snow from that which melted on contact yesterday afternoon. Expecting a nice quiet Sunday here. Blessings to Chris for his efforts on behalf of those who follow this blog.
