Heated door mat
I purchased this heated mat because my 87 year old Mom moved in and was also recoveing from a broken hip. the mat is great but there are problems. Once the ice and snow melts off, it freezes a band on the outer edge of the mat that is not heated. Another issue is that you need to go out and lift... -
Indus-Tool ICE-SNOW Ice-Away Heated Snow-Melting Mat
Creates a dry spot which is good, I don't like that the enclosed element and mat don't stay laminated together internally. I don't feel this should be normal. Work's good as a first step device. Be nice if there were other competitive products/different sizes out there...
Weird, I searched all over the net and you can hardly find anything on this subject. When I cut on the heater, I heard a loud rumbling sound and I looked outside to see that the whole unit was shaking back and forth like an overloaded washing...
If it indeed is an icing problem, try to remove it with a heat gun or hair dryer. It is possible that you may have a loose blower motor bolt causing the movement. This would certainly cause the shaking and no. it is not normal.
I am a first time homebuyer and lived in apartments so this is a new experience for me. Not sure what it is called, but its about the HVAC unit outside with the fan on it.
Go out and look inside the cover while the fan is running. Could be a bad blade on the fan or a bad belt or a bad pulley on the motor. Could also be the motor has loosened from the bolts that hold it in place. Guessing the belt has a chunk out of it.
I live in Manitoba, Canada in an older apartment building. There are 3 floors and 20 apartments. The problem is, my landlord doesn't seem to care at all about the upkeep of the building or anything to do with it.
Legally he is responsible for his property and the safety of the tenants within. You can only make complaints about the ugly building or the laundry machines because you get what you pay for and he only has to maintain what he agrees to in the...

Mountain News: Snow tallies upside down from last year
VAIL, Colo. — Other places get bigger dumps than Vail, but it's always been a point of local pride that Vail rarely gets shut out entirely by storms.
"Vail has the most consistent snow of any place in the world," Mayor Andy Daly, who has been involved in the ski business at various Colorado resorts for more than 40 years, said at a community meeting last week.
But consistent or not, Vail went into Christmas for the first time since 1981 without opening its famous Back Bowls.
In Vail, as elsewhere, ski and community officials were trying to put the best light on the lack of snow in the busy week between Christmas and New Year's Day.
"You take last year's snow, and this year's snow, and between the two of them we have two average seasons," joked Chris Jarnot, chief operating officer for Vail Mountain, referring to last years' phenomenal snowfall. "Our grooming crew has been pulling rabbits out of hats so far," he added.

New Orleans Saints Coach Sean Payton more worried about wind than ...
While he acknowledged the appearance on the 2010 schedule of two outdoor December games in potentially cold weather cities wasn't ideal, New Orleans Saints Coach Sean Payton said the wind is generally the one environmental factor that can impact a game.
The forecast for the Saints game Sunday in Cincinnati calls for temperatures of around 37 degrees - 11 degrees lower than the norm for this time of year - and possible snow flurries. On Saturday, the chance for snow is greater, and Bengals Coach Marvin Lewis joked this week a forecast blizzard would not exactly be unwelcome news for his 2-8 team hosting the 8-3 defending Super Bowl champions.
When the 2010 schedule was released, Payton acknowledged he hoped the Saints wouldn't have to play two outdoor December games in colder climes - the NFC South, with two domed stadiums plus Carolina and Tampa Bay lends itself to generally good weather games in at least 11 of the team's 16 games.
"But I think you pay a little bit more attention to those oddball games," Payton said, citing the Saints two Thursday games and Monday night appearances.
In the past, the Saints have taken steps to practice for the elements, such as having "wet ball' practices, for instance. And the team will sometimes take multiple cleats to outdoor games on grass. But the artifical turf in Cincinnati provides a more "predictable surface," Payton said and thus far this week the Saints have not adopted any wrinkles to their practice framework other than conducting all of them outdoors.
hey it is winter football is play in the winter end of story; bottom line if we can not play in cold weather then we are not the champions last i check we are the champions we do what it takes to win
bottom line it nice to stay in the dome for all 19 or 20 games Butt it is what it is; just me but with bush back an PT right around the corner an with jones an crap brain fart can not re call his name but any ways all the R B we got an the D we have now i feel like we got a one up on most teams with a fresh rested back going in to the 4th Q it looks to be that be a big advanage in a running close game like S P says wind will play hell on the kicking an passing
...Beijing to melt snow to address water shortage | www.bullfax.com
Beijing will collect and melt snow this winter in a bid to quench the water shortage that has plagued the Chinese capital for years, state media reported Friday. Two vehicles with high-powered heaters capable of processing around 100 cubic metres (3,500 cubic feet) of snow and ice an hour will be sent to locations around Tiananmen Square, the Global Times said.Clean snow will also be dumped into dammed sections in three rivers that drift through the city to be used for road cleaning, irrigation and to supplement the rivers' water levels, it said.
Beijing's Bird's Nest stadium has been transformed into a snowy winter wonderland for tourists, stirring anger among environmentalists over the venue's water use, state media said Tuesday.Ten artificial snow machines have turned the showcase Olympic venue into a park that will host the "Happy Snow and Ice Season" carnival for two months from Saturday, the Beijing Daily reported. The snow festival boasts a 5,130-square-metre (57,000 square feet) carpet of man-made snow up to one metre thick covering the stadium floor and sitting beneath a towering fake mountain, it said.
Seasonal water levels in the Saint Lawrence seaway -- a major North American shipping corridor -- have reached their lowest point in 40 years, the Quebec hydro center warned Friday. This follows one of the warmest Canadian winters on record, in which very little snow fell.Hydrometric meters showed an average of 7,000 cubic meters per second (247,200 cubic feet per second) flowing past the island city of Montreal, much lower than the norm of 10,000 cubic meters per second (353,100 cubic feet per second) for this time of year.
Chinese meteorologists covered Beijing in snow Sunday after seeding clouds to bring winter weather to the capital in an effort to combat a lingering drought, state media reported. The unusually early snow blanketed the capital from Sunday morning and kept falling for half the day, helped by temperatures as low as minus 2 Celsius (29 Fahrenheit) and strong winds from the north, Xinhua news agency reported.
