While the Warren G. Harding defense did an admirable job, the offense struggled to put points on the scoreboard, finishing with just 119, 40 of which came in the season (and what turned out to be Rick Rios') finale against Warrensville Heights.
Harding didn't look far for its next coach, but instead of promoting a former assistant, the administration hired boys basketball coach (and former Harding football player) Steve Arnold.
Hiring Arnold seemed odd, as he has led the Harding basketball program to great success and hasn't been involved in football in many years.
The hope is his ties to the community will bring stability to a program that has been in flux the past few seasons.
Arnold is coaching the Harding basketball team for the 2011-12 season while he also makes preparations for the 2012 football season.
