Well, ya know a shaft can't shorten by itself. And I can't imagine a PTO that's not rigid.
Maybe the previous owner had some kind of adaptor hooked to the snow blower.

I run a power cord extension from the meter mounted on the pole and my camper I use in summer and the cord is made of several extensions plugged together.
Actually, there should be no problem with the cords. Most people think water conducts electricity but, in fact, it does NOT. Rain and snow melt is close to distilled water and does not conduct electricity.
I would like to mount a wreath outside my house on the cement wall in between my garage doors but im not sure how i could mount it.
All you need to do is drill a hole and put a cement anchor in it, and a screw. It will stay there all year.
Small and unobtrusive.

Ferrari's 208mph supercar in the snow
Let me rewind 10 minutes or so. In awe of the FF’s abilities on the snow, and growing in confidence after a couple of crash-free laps, I had decided to see what happened when I started playing around with the “manettino” dial. Like most of the controls in the FF, this is mounted on the steering wheel, its purpose to set the parameters for the suspension, traction and stability control, electronic differential, gearshift and how the FF’s four-wheel drive works.
In the “Ice” mode, it had been astonishing, eradicating almost all traces of wheelspin, understeer and oversteer. But in doing so it left the FF feeling like a caged animal, the electronics reigning things in just when the V12 wanted to unleash its full fury. So I switched the manettino through the settings, bypassing “Wet”, then “Comfort” and finally settling on “Sport”, despite the conditions underfoot.
With each click of the dial, the £227,000 FF (the cost had apparently escaped my attention by this point) revealed ever more of its ferocious side, dancing over the ice and requiring constant input from the driver to keep it on course. What’s more, the more aggressive with the throttle, steering and brakes I was, the more fabulous this 1,880kg supercar became, settling into flattering powerslides which, thanks to a well-timed injection of the FF’s not inconsiderable 504lb ft of torque to the front wheels, always ended up back on the straight and narrow. I was having, without doubt, the most fun possible on four wheels.

FEL mounted snow plow in deep, wet, heavy snow? - Page 2 ...
With snow plow to push the snow anywhere in deep snow. With the fence, there is no place to push deep snow away. A 'V" shaped plow might work but you could probably only get one pass straight ahead. A 2WD 1020 is not very heavy in the front when the snow plow is on the ground (or raised up slightly) and will probably get pushed away easily. (for lifting the snow out of the way) and the rear blade. It was slow going, but it did work. I did use the blade most of the time since it was much faster. I would imagine that a front snow blade would tend to push the front of the tractor even more. Certainly that could be countered somewhat by taking smaller "bites" of snow by adjusting the snow bade hieght.
