Must have for snow!
I finally got a Snow Brum after living in the northeast my whole life. I can't believe I've wasted so much time with a regualr snow brush. And this is a required tool if you have an SUV and hate having 50 pounds of snow slide down your wind shield when ever you hit the brakes. You can clean... -
Great Product
I bought my first one a number of years ago at a chain store and was skeptical but then after using it to push off huge amounts of snow with one sweep I was hooked. The telescoping handle is nice and reaches high over the car. Lots of heavy snow can be removed in a few minutes unlike a snow...

Snow's absence blessing in disguise
The lack of snow this winter has snow lovers across St. Croix County down in the dumps.
But it also has an effect on the people who would be plowing that snow.
“Without the need to plow, it reduces the amount of overtime the guys have to take and allows them to utilize their vacation time,” County Highway Commissioner for St. Croix County Tim Ramberg said. “During storms we can’t allow the workers to have vacations because they might need to be called in at any time. The more time out in the field means better opportunities to get stuff done.”
Even without snowplowing to take up most of their time, the 65 licensed drivers and 11 member support team has no problem staying busy. They are able to get to projects they normally would not have time for during the winter months, such as experimenting with new salt mixtures, making repairs on their trucks and gear as well as clearing away brush along the highways. It also gives them the chance to get on top of the buckthorn that has been popping up in many areas.
Happy Thanksgiving in Missoula! « Missoula Red Tape
The sparkly trees are going up in the newsroom and the little lights are shining. I’m still coming down from Thanksgiving, though.
I made my first turkey roulade, and I didn’t screw it up. In fact, it tasted wonderful and looked beautiful. My sweetie’s uncle taught me how to do a butcher’s wrap to tie it, and I wouldn’t have been embarrassed if Martha Stewart had dropped in for a slice.
I saw how busy folks were with comments about the parking garage when I came back. I’m going to follow up maybe next week on the costs of the garage, and if there’s information that should see the light of day, please holler here or shoot me at note at keila.szpaller@missoulian.com.
I know this post is late. I was so on time for Veterans Day, but Hanukkah is in full swing and here I am posting about Thanksgiving. It’s such a great holiday, though. Friends and cheesy puffs.
I was thinking of the people I’m thankful for on my beat. The neat thing about stories is they can change the way you see things.
Yooper in Crackerland: Snowplow Upgrade??
Below is a picture(one of the earliest digital pictures we have. It was on a 3 1/2" floppy that the camera used to store pictures, not like the little memory cards these days.) of me plowing snow with my old Jeepster. The reason it is topless is that I rolled it about 20 years before this picture was taken and as the top was the most solid part of the vehicle, it got bent out of shape and so I removed it. It is now parked in the field directly behind where it is in this picture.
I still need to work on the driveline. I think the chain that goes from the transmission to the transfer case is stretched and worn and is jumping teeth under a hard pull or hard acceleration. I hope it's that and not the output shaft on the transmission that is worn as the chain is easier to replace than the shaft because the tranmission doesn't have to be removed. Either way it'll be another couple hundred dollars to get it ready to plow snow next year. The total for what I paid for the truck and what I will have put into fixing it will be less than a thousand dollars which ain't bad. I figure the plow rig alone is worth what I paid for the truck.
