For short to average height people
I can't believe I didn't read the reviews before buying. I'm 6'3" tall and as other tall people have mentioned, this shovel does not work well for tall people. I had a pan shovel several years ago that worked great. It had a bigger pan, was about 8 to 10 inches wider, had wooden runners on the... -
Super Effective
I live in southwestern Colorado--ie, we have lots of snow. I already own one Suncast Big Scoop--it's about 11 eleven years old. It works so well at moving LARGE quantities of snow that I'm buying a spare. In terms of manually removing and moving snow, there are two superb products...

"I'm not one of the Jones boys, I'm the old plow horse himself," wrote C.O. Jones, in this colorful autobiography. This book contains the ancestry, autobiography and progeny of C.O. Jones, as written in 1960, brimming with colorful characters and situations. This book is not just for family members, but for anyone interested in rural America from 1900 to 1960. It serves up a slice of homespun Americana written with a keen eye for detail, and devilish wit. Excerpt: "She was an ill-tempered, irascible and partially crippled woman. She used a cane to get around; however, the cane was used more for chastising than walking." The son of a dirt-poor Indiana farmhand, Jones was a farmer, a storekeeper, a railroad man and a postal inspector who eventually assumed surprising responsibilities for a man of humble beginnings and limited formal education. Most of all he was a hard-working American, who sheltered a wife and five children through the Great Depression, and on to brighter futures. His children...

POLL: How Did the City Handle this Weekend's Snow?
Malden had it's first non-dusting snowfall over the weekend, with the city's Department of Public Works plowing most of the day Saturday to keep roads clear for residents.
A few vocal readers, however, took to social media over the weekend, complaining about the conditions of some streets in the city:
"Do they plow Rt. 60 anymore?" @ DFR329 tweeted.
"Route 60 is a mess," @ leezaxo agreed.
On Facebook, other residents gave mixed reviews.
"My street has not been plowed at all," Terri M , who said she lived on Home St., said. "Yet, the other day when we had a slight dusting of 1 (inch), they were out at 7 a.m. tearing up the paved streets."
"Over all, from what I see, I can only say the snow removal was piss poor," Mike Farren said.
"I watched a city plow come down Reserve Street to Noble Street, raise the blade and drive off up Noble Street with the blade up. Noble Street is a small hill and needed to be plowed. A private citizen plowed the street a bit later. Very poor plowing, I think."
Jessica Anne Rex: Thanksgiving in Seattle
This year I got to go home for Thanksgiving :) I feel like I had my first real vacation in like 1 1/2 years...well, ok, since I started working at the MTC :) My missionaries are kind of like my children, and so I worry about them if I'm not with them, which makes it really difficult to go away on vacation or anything, because even though I'm not with them, I'm still wondering how they are doing, and it usually drives my family up the wall. But this year, my missionaries left the Monday/Tuesday/Wednesday of the week of Thanksgiving, so I knew that they were in good hands, and I didn't worry about them :) It was awesome to have a vacation, and I was able to come back to school refreshed and ready to get back into studying. It snowed the day before I got to Seattle, which is awesome - I love snow :) But it's the strangest thing (well, to me anyways) - in Seattle, they don't plow away the snow; not because they don't want to, but because they can't; they do not have the equipment necessary to plow snow in Seattle; apparentely it doesn't snow enough there for them to feel the need to invest in a plow. But the good news is that because the snow was all still there ( it hadn't rained and melted it yet), I got to build my very first snowman!! I know, I'm 24, and I built my first snowman :) My younger sister helped me, and my mom gave us candy to make his face and stuff :) I was so proud :D
Ina in Alaska: Fresh Snow Fun!
We have had so much snow and cold weather lately. Because I had shovelled a new path behind the house this week for Halle, I decided to expand that new path and dig some new routes for the dogs behind the house. I allowed the dogs to join me so they could enjoy new sniffs and views. Jeter and Toby had so much fun pushing their little selves through the fresh powdery snow! The header picture shows Toby when he arrived at my side following his poodle-ly plow through the snow. Enjoy!
