I signed up to have a contractor plow my driveway this winter. I seem to be having a problem gettting it plowed. They hardly come to plow, they wont answer my phone calls. I am really frusterated!
First off, you need to find a more reliable service--ask your friends and neighbors who they use, who they are happy with for best results. Second, report this yokle to the BBB.

This isn't meant to be disrespectful, but I thought just about everybody in Maine plows snow. Snow should be your states flower.
Offered to me for 800 dollars. Is like 12 years old but has been serviced regularly and I trust the owner to have kept it in good shape. Does include a snow blade/plow. Is this a good deal?

Snow removal needs improvement
After about seven years in Hope, I feel the need to make a few comments on the snow services.
We have lived in four other municipalities – two in B.C., one in the Northwest Territories, and one in Alberta. I base my comments primarily on comparison.
The frequency of plowing in Hope is higher than the other municipalities compared, which in some respects is, of course, positive. However, while plowing of residential streets is appreciated, the blocking of driveways is not.
The snow from plows is heavy and compacted. In all the other municipalities we lived in, there was a process to clear driveways following plowing. In one, the clearing of driveways was not in place when we first lived there, but was put in place as a result of public demand supported by a significant number of coronary emergencies from people having to deal with this heavy compacted snow blocking their driveways.
In Hope, we have one of the highest percentages of elderly in the province as a result of many people moving here to retire – these people, so crucial to our tax base, are some of the people most affected and at risk due to this practice – or should I say, lack thereof. Also, let’s not forget the people who need to get to work in the morning to run our businesses and provide our services.
The Badger Herald: Weather Service forecast 1st major snowfall of ...
In a less than surprising forecast, meteorologists are predicting Madison ’s first major snowfall of the year over the weekend, which some students might be disappointed to learn comes a day too late for the possibility of a snow day.
The National Weather Service issued a winter storm watch Thursday afternoon, which included Dane County. The watch goes into effect from Friday evening through Saturday afternoon.
Meteorologists expect the heaviest snow to fall late Friday night into the early hours of Saturday morning, dwindling into Saturday afternoon.
The weather service is predicting a 100 percent chance of precipitation with snow accumulation from four to six inches. Snowfall will be mainly concentrated south and west of a line running from Wisconsin Dells to Madison and Lake Geneva.
Madison Streets Superintendent Alan Schumacher issued a statement Thursday afternoon to remind residents of parking regulations and plowing procedures.
Madison has an alternate side parking policy, which asks residents wanting to park overnight must park on the odd side of the street on odd numbered days and the even side on even numbered days, which changes depending on the day of week.
Residents outside the downtown isthmus area are required to abide by this policy from Nov. 15 to March 15 regardless of weather. Those living in the downtown area need to follow the alternate parking policy if a snow emergency is declared, Schumacher said in the statement.
Vehicles in the area need to follow the snow emergency declaration so plows can effectively clear snow all the way to the curbs.
Schumacher said the Madison Police Department will be patrolling to enforce parking regulations. Police will be ticketing or towing vehicles in violation of these policies.
Students who usually park their cars on the streets should use ramps or parking lots to keep cars off the streets for plows.
Main streets began being de-iced as early as Thursday, in order to prevent snow from sticking to pavement. Once snowfall begins, the city’s 30 salt trucks will be covering salt routes, Schumacher said.
...Every time there's six inches of snow in Spokane … « Spokane ...
This web site is the culmination of a part time hobby in understanding why many manufacturing and tech companies closed up or left Spokane. In early 2009 I wondered why several prominent local businesses had closed and moved elsewhere.
What I learned surprised me - and changed my perception of what I thought I knew about Spokane.
Click on the "Start Here" link - and be surprised by what you'll learn. I was surprised to learn these problems have been around for decades and are documented in many official reports on the region's economy.
Spokane's near future looks to be what it has today: government, health care, education, warehousing/distribution, and support services, plus some niche businesses. And a split population - 35% to 40% will work in the higher paid government, health care, education sector - and the rest will tend to be in low wage jobs, unfortunately.
The purpose of this web site is to share what I found - not to pick a fight with anyone. Data sources are usually referenced; some data had to be re-typed by hand and I could have made a mistake. Some data sources could be out of date or might not make sense - I've tried to identify those. May be my interpretations are hare brained. Please post corrections in the comments. I hope the information is useful to you. Thank you.
