Ruth Ham: Shapleigh roads need to be clear of obstructions for plows

Public health and safety deem it necessary that the road commissioners and their crews keep the roads clear of snow to the outside edges of the shoulders of the road; therefore, it is of the utmost importance that all plowed right-of-ways within the Town of Shapleigh remain clear of obstructions.

It is the obligation of all owners and occupants of property within the Town to assure that no mailboxes, paper-delivery boxes, signs or similar structures obstruct plowed right-of-ways. Any such structures within a right-of-way exist there at the risk of the owner. Neither the Town nor the road crews are responsible for damage caused to the structure by the plow.

Any vehicle parked on any road in the Town of Shapleigh that is obstructing snow removal or sanding shall be towed away at the owner's expense by an authorized towing service by order of the selectmen or the road commissioner of that district.

Plows, Dump Trucks, Shovels Used to Clear Snow for Apple Cup - SWX ...

PULLMAN, Wash. - Officials at Washington State University have pulled out the heavy equipment in an effort to remove snow from Martin Stadium in time for Saturday's Apple Cup football game.

Plow trucks, dump trucks and people with shovels were removing snow from the 37,000-seat stadium on Wednesday, even as weather forecasts called for more snow later this week.

Officials say up to 150 workers will be in the stands on Friday, clearing seats, stairs and concourses for fans. The snow is being moved to a remote part of campus.

The annual showdown with rival Washington begins at 4 p.m. on Saturday.
