Leyland cypress, forsynthia or arborvite?

Hi....this is a two part question...

l. I have six Leyland cypress trees about 5'...I put them in the ground 2 years ago....one tree got a brown limb, on the bottom, and, now is losing its color and, it looks as the needles are...

leyland is a beautiful plant, however, it does not like the soil it is in. I hope you planted the units with a healthy application of Sphagnum Moss and gypsum before planting!
Check your fertilizing schedule for the Cypress.

Is it illegal for a neighbor to plow snow onto my lawn from their driveway?

My neighbor across the street had a private contractor to plow her driveway and he just pushed all the snow up onto our lawn, is it illegal for him to do that?

Can you imagine being that 'ornery' to do that! Unbelievable!!! I have no clue but if I have to spend 45 minutes searching for a URL that tell's me I will.

  • Snow cancels flights, snarls traffic in Chicago

With the city getting socked by its first major snowstorm of the winter and drifts forming, officials detoured buses off icy Lake Shore Drive , the iconic road running along Lake Michigan . Bus service was partially restored by the end of rush hour except for the southern portion of the road.

Last year's storm, which dumped more than 20 inches of snow, brought Chicago to a standstill and caused serious embarrassment to a city known for its ability to keep working in some of the most severe winter weather. Transit spokesman Brian Steele said icy ramps and drifting snow led to the decision to move buses away from the lakefront Friday and onto roads where there was less wind and slower traffic.

No significant problems had developed yet, he said, adding, "The decision was made solely as a precaution."

More than 700 flights were canceled at Chicago's airports, the bulk of them at O'Hare International Airport , the Chicago Department of Aviation said.

We're talking snow plows again. 'Tis the season, and all that. You might assume that, because of its flexibility and precision clearing capabilities, the snow blower attachment for the skid steer loader is the obvious choice when it comes to almost any snow clearing job. But on big jobs, it's the venerable snow plows that make the most sense.

For a large parking lot, snow plows make much quicker work of clearing a lot of snow. A snow blower would do a great job, but snow plows are the better choice, because the snow can be escorted to a convenient empty section of the lot as quickly as the skid steer loader's wheels can turn. A snow blower will only blow snow to a section of the parking lot that still needs to be cleared.

A large lot also allows plenty of space for turns if you choose a snow plow for its efficiency. For airport taxi areas, snow plows are the perfect choice for quick and easy movement of snow. Wide expanses need a quicker solution.

In a construction site, snow plows also come out on top in terms of time-savings. A construction area with unused lots will have plenty of room to pile up the drifts, so a snowblower is not necessary. And the snow plow's setup makes it a safer option as well, for two reasons: The snow plow will be able to push any construction debris out of the way without damage to the attachment. Chunks of steel, wood, and other building materials could cause damage to the snowblower mechanism, or worse, become deadly air-born projectiles.

Streets that are generally flat and free of debris during the rest of the year are fine for snow blowers or snow plows. But if there is an appropriate space to push the residual snow in a residential area, you will find that your skid steer will make quicker work of it with a snow plow.

The same goes for residential or business park paved walkways. For many home owners and business owners, having the snow quickly pushed off to a remote part of the property is much preferred to having it blown into the landscaping.

Town's Snow Removal Team Clears More Than 80 Miles Of Streets ...

The Town of Estes Park has refined its snow removal program to efficiently clear approximately 57 miles of streets, 12.5 miles of sidewalks, 12 miles of trails and 15 parking lots across Town. The snow removal team consists of just 14 employees; another 15 serve as reserve drivers. The team consists of employees from Public Works and several other Town departments.

State-managed highways U.S. 34, U.S. 36 and CO Highway 7 are plowed by the Colorado Department of Transportation, including Elkhorn and Moraine Avenues. All other streets in Town limits are plowed by the Town’s team, which is called to action when there is sufficient snowfall or icy conditions. Plowing along emergency routes typically begins between 4 and 7 a.m. Drivers make a first pass along each route, which takes approximately five hours, and then make additional passes as needed. If snowfall ends, plows generally stop running by 3:30 p.m.

Emergency routes are the first priorities for plow drivers. These include access streets to hospitals and schools, downtown streets including MacGregor Avenue, Big Horn Drive and Riverside Drive, as well as Peak View Drive, Scott Avenue and any other streets that must remain accessible for a police or fire emergency. When plows begin clearing snow, any vehicles parked along designated snow routes will be towed at the owner’s expense; signs are posted along these routes.
