  • Skidsteer Snow Equipment: Skidsteer Material Spreaders

The skidsteer snow equipment everyone no one ever thinks of, until they need it, is the material spreader. Normally thought of as a piece of summer equipment, the material spreader serves as a useful piece of skidsteer snow equipment, making it possible for skidsteer snow removal contractors to add another tool to their toolbox.

After you plow, blow, push, or remove the snow, your customers will most likely want some sand, salt, or snow melt. Since you don’t want to put it on by hand, this is where the summer’s material spreader becomes a valuable part of your skidsteer snow arsenal.

That’s because these skidsteer spreaders can broadcast more than just fertilizer and seed. They are perfect for spreading sand and salt as well. Imagine bringing your skidsteer to a snow removal job, and using the snow pusher, blower, or plow attachment to clear away heavy snow from the lots, driveways, and sidewalks. That would be enough for most of your customers. But with the material spreader, you could offer an extra service and apply a layer of sand or salt for safety. A complete job, with one skidsteer loader and an extra piece of skidsteer snow equipment.

Skid Steer Solutions offers both the front-discharge unit and the side-discharge unit in two sizes, 60-inch width, and 72-inch width. The side-shooter is ideal if you need to broadcast sand or salt (or some other material), but want to avoid driving on the treated surface with the skidsteer. The larger of each material spreader holds just over a cubic yard of material, while the smaller unit’s capacity is just under a cubic yard. They are all made with high-quality steel, and are engineered to withstand years and years of hard labor.

But the best feature has to be the tiltable bucket. With all of the material spreaders available from Skid Steer Solutions, it is possible to drive the skidsteer right up to a pile of sand or salt, tilt the unit as you would a normal bucket, and scoop up a new load. This saves you from having a second piece of equipment to load your material spreader.

Four Skid Steer Snow Attachments You'll Need This Winter

Skid steer snow attachments are important for any skid steer loader operator who wants to be productive over the winter. There are four different skid steer snow attachments you can choose from. Any one of them will create a revenue generation stream for you over the winter months, but two or three of them can really turn you into a snow removing specialist. Here are the four most important skid steer snow attachments to consider for your snow removal business.

    Snow Plows

This is one of the most popular skid steer snow attachments available. It’s useful for pushing snow around into piles. Available in 7, 8, 9, or 10 foot widths, the snow plow has a rust-resistant stainless steel mold board, shock absorbers that keep the blade from snapping back when the blade hits a curb for fixed object, and hydraulic angle adjustment that lets you move the blade in either direction.

    Snow Blowers

The other of our most popular skid steer snow attachments, the snow blower is ideal for eliminating large piles of snow normally associated with snow plows. Skid steer snow blowers are great for clearing sidewalks, paved walkways, or parking lots with limited space.

    Snow Buckets

It’s not something you would expect in a series of skid steer snow attachments, but think of it like the scoop on an earth mover. This is made of a lighter material than regular buckets, but still heavy enough to keep from wearing out or falling apart. It’s useful for scooping large chunks of snow from piles, or carting snow from one part of an area to another.

    Snow Pushers

One of our most useful skid steer snow attachments, improving on the snow plow design. The best way to think of it is a snow blower with side walls. These use a double-bladed system, and the width can be adjusted. It has a rubber main blade backed by a steel blade. And both edges are replaceable, so the scraper will last for years. But the best feature of the snow pusher is the side walls that reduces the amount of snow normally lost to a snow plow.
