Great, Includes Mounting Bracket
I wanted to use this with an old snow blower ( a lot of the new ones have this scoop attached) and was trying to figure out how I'd mount it. This includes a mounting bracket, though you have to drill two holes, no big deal. This scoop is identical with at least the OEM scoop that came with my... -
Better than a stick
They do not tell you that it comes with a holder and all you have too do is drill two holes and snap it's mounted. have not used it yet but it is strong and if you don't dig holes with it and just clean out your snowblower it should work well. And the price was great...

No, the snow will actually protect the ground from frost for a while if that's what you want.
However, there's nothing better than a good frost for breaking up the soil and making digging so much easier.

Snow-laden Alaska towns dig out from huge pile-up
Tuesday, Jan. 24, 2012 | 3:31 a.m.
Students are back in class. Vulnerable roofs are shoveled for the most part. Snow removal crews are getting a breather as skies stay clear over this corner of Alaska.
Life is back to normal for two towns deeply buried in snow in Prince William Sound. The National Weather Service said Tuesday the weather is supposed to remain clear in both Valdez and Cordova this week, with no more snow forecast in Cordova until next week.
"I'm seeing people smile and they don't seem so panicked," said Cordova city spokesman Allen Marquette. He said the priority _ at least for him _ is to move snow at the base of homes in time to make room for the next snowfall.
Valdez, a snow magnet about 120 miles east of Anchorage, has received almost 27 feet of snow this winter, compared with more than 15 feet for the same time period in an average season. Michele Tompkins, who works for the city of 4,300, described the break in the weather with two words: "It's wonderful."
Farmers Clearing Snow Blocked Roads Can Use Red Diesel | TopNews ...
The farmers will be permitted to employ red diesel for clearing roads jammed with snow with their tractors as there could arise problems due to cold weather and falling of snow.
HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) made the declaration of provision of red diesel for farmers, but it said that the temporary rule will be followed if farmers are endeavoring to clear snow on public roads or are considering doing the same.
“It is adopting a practical approach to the rules, given farmers' vital role in clearing country roads”, said HMRC.
Presently, red diesel is allowed for use only by vehicles such as snow ploughs that help clearing snow swarmed public roads due to extreme cold weather.
The provision of using diesel will be offered to those who attempt to clear roads for lending a helping hand to remote communities and schools and hospitals.
There have been faced difficulties by transport during recent days due to the heavy snow and ice. The disruption associated with poor weather was also faced by East Coast train services.
The snow code – tips on clearing snow and ice from pavements or ...
If you clear snow and ice yourself, be careful – don’t make the pathways more dangerous by causing them to refreeze. But don’t be put off clearing paths because you’re afraid someone will get injured.
Remember, people walking on snow and ice have responsibility to be careful themselves. Follow the advice below to make sure you clear the pathway safely and effectively.
Clear the snow or ice early in the dayIt’s easier to move fresh, loose snow rather than hard snow that has packed together from people walking on it. So if possible, start removing the snow and ice in the morning. If you remove the top layer of snow in the morning, any sunshine during the day will help melt any ice beneath. You can then cover the path with salt before nightfall to stop it refreezing overnight.
Use salt or sand - not waterIf you use water to melt the snow, it may refreeze and turn to black ice. Black ice increases the risk of injuries as it is invisible and very slippery. You can prevent black ice by spreading some salt on the area you have cleared. You can use ordinary table or dishwasher salt – a tablespoon for each square metre you clear should work. Don’t use the salt found in salting bins - this will be needed to keep the roads clear.
Be careful not to spread salt on plants or grass as it may cause them damage.
If you don’t have enough salt, you can also use sand or ash. These won’t stop the path icing over as well as salt, but will provide good grip under foot.
Take care where you move the snowWhen you’re shovelling snow, take care where you put it so it doesn’t block people’s paths or drains. Make sure you make a path down the middle of the area to be cleared firs, so you have a clear surface to walk on. Then shovel the snow from the centre of the path to the sides.
Offer to clear your neighbours’ pathsIf your neighbour will have difficulty getting in and out of their home, offer to clear snow and ice around their property as well. Check that any elderly or disabled neighbours are alright in the cold weather. If you’re worried about them, contact your local council.
