A winter storm warning has been issued by the National Weather Service for Platte and all surrounding counties effective all day Saturday.
Rain is expected in the area this evening before transitioning to snow during the overnight hours.
Six to 9 inches of snow is expected in the warned area, with amounts of 12 or more inches possible in spots.

The season's strongest storm will bear down on the area today, potentially dumping 10 inches of snow on Columbus before exiting the state Saturday night.
Weekend events including Sing Around Nebraska and a local wood-cutting retreat have already been canceled, and schools are dismissing early ahead the fast-moving system, which slid out of the Rocky Mountains into southwest Nebraska late Thursday night.

SISTERS, Ore. -- One of many traffic crashes Monday on Santiam Pass involved an SUV and snowplow, illustrating the hazardous winter conditions and serving as a reminder to watch out for ODOT equipment trying to keep the highways open, Oregon State Police said.
Hours later, Santiam Pass was reopened after a semi truck blocking Highway 22 in both directions was removed. Around 10:15 a.m., Trooper Rich Brannin said, a 2000 Dodge Durango driven by Adam R. Miller, 25, of Scappoose, was eastbound on Highway 22 near milepost 73, negotiating a left curve when his vision was blinded by whiteout conditions. A 2005 Volvo ODOT snowplow driven by Randall O'Connor, 61, of Salem, was plowing westbound, entering the same visibility conditions, when both vehicles collided nearly head-on, Brannin said. Miller was taken to Santiam Memorial Hospital with minor injuries. O'Connor was not injured.
