  1. Must have for snow!
I finally got a Snow Brum after living in the northeast my whole life. I can't believe I've wasted so much time with a regualr snow brush. And this is a required tool if you have an SUV and hate having 50 pounds of snow slide down your wind shield when ever you hit the brakes. You can clean...
  2. Great Product
I bought my first one a number of years ago at a chain store and was skeptical but then after using it to push off huge amounts of snow with one sweep I was hooked. The telescoping handle is nice and reaches high over the car. Lots of heavy snow can be removed in a few minutes unlike a snow...

The snow particles entrained in the wake of the snowplow (i.e. snow cloud) and the subsequent snow accumulation on the warning lights appear as the most pronounced visibility problems behind the snowplow truck. Computational fluid dynamics (CFD) methods are employed with detailed 2D and 3D models of the snowplow trucks (1) to evaluate the performance of the add-on devices (airfoils) available in the market which improve the rear visibility of truck by the public; (2) to gain more insight over the snow cloud pattern. Considering the low density of snow particles and high drag coefficient, they are assumed to follow air flow and their effect on the flow pattern is neglected. The effect of airfoil on the snow accumulation behind the truck is quantified by pressure and shear stress distribution. The airfoil selected based on the numerical studies is implemented on the back of the truck and tested in the field. The results confirmed the rear visibility performance increase by the airfoil over...

  • Snow plow crashes into house

A woman was rudely awakened this day morning.

By a snowplow. In the front room of her home.

“She awoke with a bang,” said Paul Doucette, Carol’s brother-in-law.

“We’re just all glad that she wasn’t hurt and neither was the driver.”

Relatives and neighbours identified the woman as Carol Doucette, who was not available for comment.

The Town of Trenton truck and house suffered extensive damage. New Glasgow Police Service and the provincial Labour and Advanced Education Department’s occupational health and safety division are investigating the cause of the crash.

“The conditions are very greasy,” said Const. Ken Macdonald.

The snowplow was going down a steep decline on Egerton Street and appears to have slid through an intersection at Chestnut Street, going over the curb and into the house.

A snowstorm blanketed northern Nova Scotia with some 15 centimetres of snow Wednesday and unsafe driving conditions persisted throughout the day.

Travel Alert Extended To Devils Lake Area | WDAZ | Grand Forks, ND

Travel Alert extended to Devils Lake area

The Travel Alert has been extended to include the Devils Lake area and also remains in effect for western, central and south eastern portions of North Dakota through Saturday morning. NDDOT snow plows have been working since early morning hours and throughout the day, therefore snow plows have been pulled from the roads at this time. The plows will resume operation early tomorrow morning. Conditions are such that motorists can still travel, but should be advised that heavy snow continues to accumulate in the passing lane of four-lane highways and rural two-lane roads. Motorists should be advised of reduced visibility when meeting and passing vehicles and are encouraged to reduce speeds.

Cities affected by the Travel Alert include: Williston, Dickinson, Minot, Bismarck, Devils Lake, Jamestown, Valley City, Fargo, Wahpeton and surrounding areas.

As heavy snow continues, roadways have the potential to become snow covered with compacted snow creating icy conditions.

The follow are safety tips to help you arrive at your destination safely:

    · Turn on your lights. This will increase your visibility to other motorists.

    · Reduce speeds as motorists may encounter scattered snow drifts and icy patches.

    · Know where the plow is on multi-lane roadways. The plow could be in either lane or on the shoulder.

    · Be extremely cautious when passing a snowplow or other vehicles and never drive through “white-outs” or “snow fog”, caused by cross winds or plowing snow.

    · Watch for plow trucks on interstate ramps and “authorized vehicle only” cross-overs.

    · Slow down and drive according to the conditions.

    · Be patient. Remember snowplows are working to improve road conditions for your trip.
