Must have for snow!
I finally got a Snow Brum after living in the northeast my whole life. I can't believe I've wasted so much time with a regualr snow brush. And this is a required tool if you have an SUV and hate having 50 pounds of snow slide down your wind shield when ever you hit the brakes. You can clean... -
Great Product
I bought my first one a number of years ago at a chain store and was skeptical but then after using it to push off huge amounts of snow with one sweep I was hooked. The telescoping handle is nice and reaches high over the car. Lots of heavy snow can be removed in a few minutes unlike a snow...

NH DOT to Roll Out New Snow Plow
The New Hampshire Department of Transportation (NHDOT) is deploying a new tool in its snowplowing arsenal for winter maintenance operations. Motorists will soon be seeing a Tow Plow being tested for possible future widespread use on New Hampshire highways.
The Tow Plow is a trailer mounted, 26-foot plow that is towed behind a 10-wheeled plow truck. It has the capability of plowing and treating with salt an entire additional lane of roadway at normal highway speeds when completely deployed. The entire trailer unit can shift to the right or left, depending on the model, utilizing movable axles on the trailer unit as well as hydraulic controls between the truck and trailer.
“The Tow Plow has a lot of potential applications on sections of interstate highways and turnpikes in New Hampshire where the number of lanes may vary,” says NHDOT Highway Maintenance Engineer Caleb Dobbins. “It can take the place of another plow truck by allowing one truck to plow two lanes of roadway.”
New River Valley sees snowy Saturday | WSLS 10
Just after noon, Christiansburg was seeing a steady flow of snowflakes, making the roads wet as people tried to get where they were going. Just 9 miles further down I-81, the snow was even heavier. Signs were up all over the area, warning of the wintry weather.
The ground was already covered near the Radford exit just before 1 o'clock Saturday. Bruce Sellars stopped at the rest area, before continuing his journey to see the Hokies in Charlotte.
He was not ready to see snow so soon. "I expected a little bit of snow, but this is a little more than I bargained for. I've seen alot of snow plows out, so they seem to be doing a good job with that," said Sellars.
Just as he gets back on the road, headed south, a bus arrives back at Eastern Montgomery High School. The school's band and cheerleaders had to turn around before getting to the Mustangs state semifinal game in Clintwood. Cell phone video, taken on the trip to Clintwood, shows snow accumulating fast on the roads.
With temperatures dropping overnight, the roads could become more dangerous for travelers.
Snowfall Calamity, Traffic Collapse - New Europe - WSJ
In both cases, cars and trucks—in all but a few cases those without winter tires or snow chains—are sliding out of control, jamming roads and bringing the European Union’s prized free movement of goods and services to a slippery halt.
But even in less severe snowstorms the Czech Republic seems to be routinely caught off guard. Year after year, snowfall after snowfall, the mantra chanted by Czech city officials and local media is “calamity situation” and “traffic collapse.”
In fact, here’s a fresh Czech news report predicting yet another “calamity.”
But it doesn’t have to be this way.
When the snow is going to fall, and various public works departments know it in advance, one would expect their snow plows at the ready, then plowing until the storm has passed and roads are clear.
This correspondent spent many years in Boston and in the Sierra Nevada mountain range of the western United States, and in both those cases snow plow activity is ever present.
But in post-communist Czech Republic, all too often the snow plows are still hard to find 21 years after the Velvet Revolution.
In fact, the number of snow plows in Prague, population 1.2 million, is roughly 60, while in Warsaw, with 1.7 million people, it’s 300 snowplows. The Polish capital has more people, but its area is roughly that of Prague.
And in neither Poland nor the Czech Republic are winter-tires mandatory, which is amazing considering how snowfall is a routine affair.
In Poland, authorities warn drivers that snowfall could be extremely heavy and they are advised not to use their cars.
Czechs do the same with the addition of requiring snow tires on select roads.
But why not have an across-the-board obligation of drivers to use winter tires, say from Dec. 1 till the end of March, as is roughly the case in Germany and Austria? In one fell swoop that would significantly reduce the number of multi-hour winter traffic jams, and keep the economies on the move.
