  1. Must have for snow!
I finally got a Snow Brum after living in the northeast my whole life. I can't believe I've wasted so much time with a regualr snow brush. And this is a required tool if you have an SUV and hate having 50 pounds of snow slide down your wind shield when ever you hit the brakes. You can clean...
  2. Great Product
I bought my first one a number of years ago at a chain store and was skeptical but then after using it to push off huge amounts of snow with one sweep I was hooked. The telescoping handle is nice and reaches high over the car. Lots of heavy snow can be removed in a few minutes unlike a snow...

How do you snow plow your drive way? Start in middle or one side?

Silly question I know, but I'm curious. I have a directional chute Ariens snow plow. What's your method? Do you start in the center and blow it from side to side or just start on one side reversing the chute each pass?

This is the method i use:

What approach would you take with an apartment complex who plows snow in a way that blocks access to the lot?

This is an ongoing issue at my apartment complex. We have complained to the apartment manager several times last winter, but I have given up. Early today they plowed the parking lot and completely blocked in the walkway to get to the parking lot.

  • More Snow on the Way, Winter Reminders from the City

Darien’s snowplows got their first big test of the season last Thursday.

Now forecasters predict that the next round, albeit a much milder one, will arrive Tuesday.

Expect rain to turn to snow after 9 a.m. with temperatures falling throughout the day to around 23 degrees, the National Weather Service said. There could be some freezing rain as the drizzle transitions to snow, NWS reports.

While the odds of snow are at 90 percent, the NWS said the Darien area will accumulate only one to two inches.

The city of Darien reminded residents in a release Friday that it prioritizes high-traffic streets when plowing. Once the main arteries are clear, the plows will address connector roads, followed by residential streets.

It takes about four hours to clear all of the city’s streets once, and the city said some main arteries might need to be cleared twice before the plows are able to get to less-traveled areas.

Snow plows on their way through Issaquah, meeting cancellations ...

Plows are on their way through Issaquah as snow began to stick to roads this afternoon.

The city's public works will clear the priority routes first, before addressing side streets. No roads are closed yet.

All parks and recreation facilities, including the Issaquah Community Center and the Julius Boehm Pool, will close at 2 p.m. today.

All afternoon and evening parks programs are canceled. Tonight’s Issaquah Mountain Biking Task Force and Park Board meetings are also canceled.

Issaquah doesn't have any planned shelters for Monday's and Tuesday's frigid temperatures, but residents can find shelter at a King County emergency shelter in Bellevue.

Simply in Spokane: Snow days . . .

If we had gotten Spokane's 24.6 inches of snow that fell here in the month of November when we lived in Corvallis, everything would have closed down. Here, the city throws snow plows out on arterials (main roads) 24-7 in staged alerts. We watch the weather channel and plan quick trips to the store. The shelves are stocked, and I have driven on sheer sheets of washboard ice. More snow comes Tuesday, we think nothing of nights that drop to the low teens, and we're tracking the melt rate on the prodigous icicles that hang from the overhang of our back window. Next week we'll fly to Philadelphia for a three-week stay over New Year's. I'll miss Rachel and Nick, but I'm ready to travel again, and I'm no longer worried about the snow. Late last week just at dusk, I saw a four point buck grazing at twilight, daintily picking his way past the pines and through the empty field next to our house. My grandfather would have longed for his rifle. I marveled this beautiful animal made it through hunting season.
