If you go to Target, Home Depot or any of the other big chains that sell the Toro Electric Shovel you will probably find the same thing that I did...that it is SOLD OUT. Why? Because this is one of the most helpful tools to have ever been placed on the market. It works fairly well on small... -

Since there was a snow storm, I plan to go out tommorow and go shovel snow for money. How much should I charge? Or should I just let them give me what they think they should give me???
Don't let them give you what they WANT to give you, because of course they will rip you off! I would say 10 dollars an hour is good. Good for you for doing that. Good luck!

How would you explain to someone who's never shovelled snow, to shovel snow? what things are important to mention
How about details that may sound a bit obvious, like make sure it's not snowing.
Get a snow blower! Manual labor puts a lot of stress on the body and with a blower its quick and easy.

It may not be great literature — but at least it's handy. From the mastemind of the hugely successful The Red Green Show comes a book that is going to change your life, or at least make you laugh — a lot — whenever you pick it up. And people are going to be picking it up for many years to come, because — like the long-rerunning TV shows — there's not a topical gag in the book anywhere, so it's going to be funny for the forseeable future. And as its title suggests, this is also a terribly useful book. Among its very many gems of advice, it shows how to cook with acetylene, take revenge on a lawn mower, measure your hat size with a two-by-four, reduce your carbon footprint (it involves moving into a fruit tree located next to a liquor store) and make your own alternative fuel (which involves an empty propane tank and a full septic one).

Magic and Destruction--On a World Scale Imagine the drama and terror of the Second World War--only the bullets are beams of magical fire, the tanks are great lumbering beasts, and fighters and bombers are dragons raining fire upon their targets. Welcome to the world of the Derlavaian War, a world which is slowly but surely being conquered, mile by bloody mile, by the forces of the Algarvian empire...forces whose most terrible battle magics are powered by the slaughter of an innocent people. In this, the fourth volume of the series which began with Into the Darkness, the war for the continent of Derlavai builds toward its crescendo as the mages of Kuusamo, aided by their former rivals from Lagoas, work desperately to create a newer form of magic that will change the course of the war. But this is really a story of ordinary people--on all sides of the conflict--forced by fate to rise to their heroic limits...or sink to the level of their darker natures.

Middleboro to vote on fines for smoking pot, swearing
Smoke pot in public, get a $300 ticket. Shovel snow into the street, pay $50. Swear loud enough for others to hear you, pony up $20.
Those are the penalties up for debate at Middleboro’s town meeting on June 11. A public hearing is scheduled for 7 p.m. Monday at Town Hall.
And already, they are provoking some blunt comments.
“I don’t know what the big deal is if kids smoke a little dope in public,” Robert H.H. Saquet, owner of Egger’s Furniture, said when asked about the new fines being proposed by Police Chief Bruce D. Gates.
But others are all for it.
“We need to do something; the swearing is outrageous,” said former selectwoman and downtown business owner Muriel C. Duphily.
The local fine for smoking marijuana in public, Chief Gates said, will be more effective than the current state fine of $100 for the same offense. That’s because public pot-smokers can ignore the state fine.
“If they don’t pay, nothing happens,” Gates said.
Stay Safe While Shoveling Snow | Charles & Hudson

Yes, we said it -- the dreaded s-word! As snow begins to fall in parts of the country, it's time to think about stocking up on winter supplies and that most dreaded of chores -- shoveling snow!
Shoveling snow is not easy work, especially if you're trying to move a heavy, damp snow as opposed to a more fluffy variety. Roy Berendsohn, a writer for Popular Mechanics To avoid back and other injuries, maintain proper posture while shoveling. Roy recommends using "your leg muscles as much as possible. Keep your back straight when you move from a squat to upright position. Use your shoulder muscles as much as possible. Hold the shovel as close to your upper body as possible. Keep one hand close to the blade for better leverage. Don't twist your upper body as you throw snow."
+ Start early, shovel often It may seem counterintuitive to shovel several times, but if your area is expected to receive a heavy snowfall, it's much easier to remove the snow in several lighter stages than to try to shovel a heavy accumulation in one pass. Keep an eye on the snowfall, and as it starts to build, head outside for a quick scrape over the driveway or other surface.

He's Got Your Back! Avoid Back Pain with Dr. Jeff Winternheimer's ...
With temperatures dropping and a chill in the air, the first snowfall will be here before we know it. While many people look forward to the season’s first snow, many more of us dread having to shovel it away. Let’s face it…shoveling snow is hard work! And if not done correctly, it can put severe strain on the back.
“People need to be very careful when shoveling snow,” explains Dr. Jeff Winternheimer, founder of the Illinois Back Institute with 4 locations throughout Chicagoland (Wheaton, Countryside, Berwyn and Orland Park). “While most people recognize the tremendous stress that shoveling snow can place on the heart, what they may not realize is the amount of stress and strain that it can cause to the back,” he adds.
“It’s not surprising that thousands of people injure their backs each and every year while shoveling snow,” he continues. “During the winter season, I’ve seen everything from basic muscle fatigue and low back strain to vertebral disc damage and even spinal fractures,” he says. “But, with proper preparation and a few easy tips, shoveling snow can be a very healthy, fun, and safe form of winter exercise.”
The following suggestions from Dr. Jeff are sure to help.
Dress for Success Make sure you are dressed appropriately for the weather with layered clothing that is non-restricting and easy to move in. Also, consider wearing a hat. A great deal of body heat is lost through the head, so a hat is a must. If it’s icy cold, breathing through a scarf will help. And, don’t forget the importance of proper boots, which are not only essential for keeping your feet warm and dry, but the soles provide good traction, which will help with your balance.
Don’t Forget the Gloves Using the right shovel can save your back from injury or pain. Be sure that your shovel is lightweight and has a curved handle (like the new ergonomic ones), which allows you to keep your back straighter when shoveling. Also, make sure that it’s not too tall (resulting in an awkward grip) or too small (causing you to bend over). I believe that a smaller blade is better than a larger blade. Although a small blade can't shovel as much snow, it avoids the risk of trying to pick up too heavy a load with a larger one.
