Well worth feeling a little silly
Today's 8" storm officially heralded in my second season using the Wovel, and I was reminded exactly how remarkable this silly-looking contraption is.My house is one of four homes on a very small private street. Since we're responsible for our own snow removal, we co-own a large snow blower and... -
Better than a snow blower
Pros:The Wovel makes for fast, easy and efficient removal of snow. I can clear my drive faster with the Wovel than my neighbors can using their snow blowers (and it seems that they work harder trying, wrestling their snow blowers!). The folding design of the Sno Wovel is wonderful! It only takes...

Lansing residents would have less time to clear snow under proposed ordinance ...
LANSING, MI – Lansing residents would have less time to clear snow from their sidewalks under a proposed revision of the city's snow ordinance.
The change was presented to a committee of the Lansing City Council.
Christopher Mumby, Department Coordinator with the city's Public Service Department, said an eight hour reduction in the time residents are given to clear their walks after receiving a warning is a small, but necessary, adjustment.
The current "additional time" allowed after receiving a warning from the city is 24 hours. Mumby made his case for reducing that to 18 hours at a committee hearing Wednesday.
"The big question is, after the notice is deemed received by mail, how long should the public service department wait to take action? Currently it's at 24 hours, which can push the snow removal into the following week," depending on the timing of the storm, Mumby said.
Under the current ordinance, a storm that ended Sunday at 11 a.m. would allow residents until Monday at 11 a.m. to shovel. If the snow wasn't cleared, city workers would issue and mail a notice, which would be "deemed received" at the end of the following day – in this example, 5 p.m. Tuesday.
Garant APP36KU Alpine 36-Inch Poly Blade Extra Wide Snow Pusher ...
While this works great with 6 inches or less by its self I have used it for 2 feet of snow. With two feet of snow I used it to push the snow to edges of the driveway and then shovel a very short distance. This has cut down my avg snow shoveling from 2 hrs to 20 min. Granted with the 2 feet of snow I will have a snow blower for the future, but it sure saved me a ton of effort this year.
Living in Central NY, I get my share of snow. This is the first year of using this snow pusher and it has exceeded my expectations. Good for 4-5 inches of snow then you need a second pass… still worth it, however.A trick for this pusher, is to kick the back of it and the snow will go flying while saving your back from actually lifting the pusher.
This is a great shovel for light snow, to about 3inches. I use this on our long paved driveway, makes clean-up go so fast. We did put a metal blade on the bottom of shovel, so the plastic would not wear out so fast. Thought about adding a bar 2/3 way up the handle for easier lifting, but my foot works just as well and no lifting. I also used this for our brick patio. This shovel really makes the job faster. After 2 years of clearing our driveway with smaller standard shovels, which always seemed to take 1.5+ hours no matter how little or light the snow was, I finally caved and bought a Garant Snow Pusher in hopes that it would shorten the job. This has routinely cut my shoveling time in half, and saved my back in the process. What I’ve found after one winter of clearing my driveway in southeastern PA:
If you have 3-4 inches or less of powdery snow, this will clear it with little to no effort, and the best part – no lifting! Simply start a line and push it across. More than 3-4 inches of powder and you’ll start having problems with it running over the top or sides while moving across your driveway. You can still do it, but you’ll have to make a second pass to clear whatever came off the shovel when you pushed it to one side.
