Since we're responsible for our own snow removal, we co-own a large snow blower and... -
Better than a snow blower
Pros:The Wovel makes for fast, easy and efficient removal of snow. I can clear my drive faster with the Wovel than my neighbors can using their snow blowers (and it seems that they work harder trying, wrestling their snow blowers!). The folding design of the Sno Wovel is wonderful! It only takes...

New vineyard for farmland
The green hills surrounding Wessington will soon produce a new type of crop with the arrival of a vineyard.
Businessmen Barry Lewis and Duncan Mercer have teamed up to create Amber Valley Wines in Doehole.
The plucky pair braved some of Derbyshire’s worst weather earlier this month – planting some of their 1,500 vines in the snow.
Barry, who lives in Wessington and is a local councillor, said: “We had to use snow shovels to clear the tracks from the vines that we were planting.
“The area is just over an acre in a field that is nearly two acres.”
Barry and his partner are hoping the vines will yield their first bottles of wine next year, but are aware it could take a few years before that vines are mature enough to produce a good crop.
Once ready, they vineyard will produce white and rose wine in both still and sparkling.
“In an exceptional year we hope to produce red wine,” he said.
Barry and Duncan enjoy wine and have each visited the Hunter Valley region of new South Wales, in Australia, which is a major wine producing region.
Collapsible Snow Shovels
Lens about folding snow shovels for the car and for outdoor winter activities. Collapsible snow shovels are an important part of your car's winter emergency kit and their foldable design makes them easy to store in your trunk readyto go when you need them. Mini folding snow scoops are great for hillwalking, camping, skiing etc. and will fit inside a backpack and are generally very lightweight and portable.
Snow means big business for some stores
Starting on Friday, stores became busy with shoppers stocking up on supplies for the forecasted wintry weather. Employees at the Lowes on Grey Lag Way in Lexington say, in particular this morning, many people were looking for snow shovels.
By Noon today they had sold more than 50 and by late afternoon were sold out. That's not the only supplies shoppers were looking for.
Doug Gamble of Lowes says, "Snow shovels of course, rock salt, driveway heat, ice scrapers. I think a lot of people lost those over the summer. Things like that. Last night we were probably busier than even this morning with people preparing for weather. Probably our busiest time I'd say."
Sleds have also been a big hit with customers who were wanting to get out in the snow. Most stores prepare for wintry weather ahead of time, so once it hits, you can easily find what you need, such as the shovels, de-icer, salt, and scrapers.
As for winter supplies, employees at Lowes say they have more shipments coming in to keep items restocked.
I understand the stores running out of salt when we have a decent snow, but the run on snow shovels sort of puzzles me. Salt you eventually run out of, but a snow shovel will last practically forever. One would think that eventually everyone who needed a snow shovel would have one...are most of these snow shovel buyers first time home owners, or are there that many people out there who sell, give away or toss out their snow shovels? This is something that has always somewhat bemused me.News
