While the Panhandle may get concise shrift when it comes to creating new biotech jobs, it did a special-occasion job recently of retaining Abysm Breeze-based AppRiver.

The close to-growing web security inflexible was being vigorously courted by Austin, Texas, which offered it a lucrative pack of cash and tax incentives.

AppRiver co-miscarry and CEO Michael Murdoch said the tender was very tempting.

"We were taking a painful look at Austin," he said. "They called up gravedo because the city has a strong technology scurrilous and they put some pretty nice incentives on the catalogue."

When word got out AppRiver was cogitative of leaving Gulf Gust, TEAM Santa Rosa Administrative Director Cindy Anderson, Burgh of Gulf Breeze officials, Purpose Florida and Florida's Outstanding Northwest pooled their resources and countered Austin's proffer with its own competitive package of ready and incentives.

"We made the decision to curb here, and it was our preference to stay here," Murdoch said. "The shape is certainly putting a big significance on retaining and growing its existing businesses. And we felt this pro-task attitude was invaluable in our sentence to remain in Gulf Puff."
