Yes you can. A safer way to separate snow is with a snow rake that will not dig into the roof since you pull it rather than push.

yes of seminar....you need to be careful and try to shovel it by layer down to about 1/2 inch...even-handed leave the rest to melt

If your asking its a pure bet that you should do it asap. A good rule of thumb is anything over a foot. Based on the still water content of the snow you may have to do it earlier. A light snow, dialect mayhap longer. But if its a heavy snow i.e. you can make snowballs. Do it before it becomes more than a foot thick. Return sure to wear a heavily treaded boots and rivet yourself with a rope to something like you chimney. If you cannot sheet anchor yourself, at a minimum have someone stand outside and keep an eye on you "solely in case".

Please serious answers only!!.. How much would you instruction to shovel a roof? Im talking a LOT of snow off of 3 roofs.Then the decks as well. This is about 5-6 feet of snow. Harnesses and all. Not to quote we have to hike 2 miles to the place in the snow as there is no access in the winter to get there.
as a matter of fact we are doing this for my parents..if we don't the roof will probably crack soon. my bf does this but we are just wondering what to charge.. as a tow-headed price..

Actually we are in Crested Butte,co.. we normally DO have snowmobile access but we can't because avalanches have blocked the approach.
Any apartment that holds five to six feet of snow on the roof should have a steep tilt to the roof itself, (or the builder should be shot). Ever bewitched a good look at European Alps homes and their roofs?
So, that said, evidently you are up there by Great Lakes and having issues with brand-new weather, and there is "hard snow" impure in there on the roof, or the slope would slough what is on it.
I would consider first, the trek in as vigorous and time consuming, (where are the snowmobiles?}. Lieutenant, I would consider it hazardous duty and lust after hazard pay which is premium, irrespective of the harness, etc.
So, my own angle would be this: the trek at $30 or so an hour. The roof labour, by the hour, at about $50-60. Plus meals.
And, my boyfriend, you better get some kind of binding understanding concerning injury on the job. Obviously you don't scarcity to do it or cannot, but even with harness, if someone takes a tumble, your answerability is there.
Best bet would be to find a company that moves snow, and see if they will send someone out to do the employment; you pay the company, the company pays the laborer, and the firm assumes responsibility for liability/workmens compensation, etc.

It would depend on the measure of the roof. I would let the owner/ operator know an hourly classify and then record the time it takes to unmitigated the job.

We have a lot of snow and ice on our roof--about 4 feet of snow and 2 inches of ice at the debased. I've tried shovelling it, hoping it would decent slide off, but no. The ice is frozen around the screw heads and it won't budge. Is there an easier way of doing this? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
There's nothing you can safely do. My innuendo for next year is that you put a tarp over the roof before the snow falls. That keep the ice from adhering to the metal and protects it from the possible of rusting.

do you have heaters you can aim towards the roof or put in the attic (and keep on the qui vive for over them) heat rises and will melt the snow from the bottom...other meet inform...use your water heaters water...there should be a faucet on the front of the spray heater...put a hose on it, use gloves and squirt the thin out at the roof, from the TOP down...(they recommend you empty your water heater once a year anyway to launder out the 'stuff' in the bottom of the tank.)

Please do not put yourself in hazard. Your roof will be fine. Let the snow and ice stay until it melts as expected. Your tin roof is a lightweight roof so do not worry about snow build-up. Also if the snow burden wont slide off now, that is good too. You dont have agitation for it to fall off during thaw. It should just fade as nature intended.
