Bristol City groundsman Richardson warns of another big freeze Bristol Evening Post
15.01.10
"The forecasters are saying we will be OK over the weekend, because it will shower for a bit but become warmer. But there is a transition on Monday and we will be returning to frosty conditions on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.
"There is a prospect of more snow on Tuesday and that could give us a problem for the replay against Cardiff and for the fourth-get together tie at home to Leicester , if we get through."
The rigidity of the big freeze which gripped the boondocks for the first two weeks of this year came as no blow to Richardson, who regularly consulted Met Purpose long-range forecasts.
He said: "I knew what was coming, because the radar pictures were showing the worst suffer module in 35 years.
"We managed to get the profession on against Watford on December 28, but then things became even worse and made it a natural struggle.
"Although we had the covers on the hurl, there was no way we could save the FA Cup tie against Cardiff on January 2. There was well-founded too much frost in the ground."

Just curious, what is meant by a 2 stage snow blower?
Jan 02, 2008 by Skeeter | Posted in Maintenance & Repairs
in a 2 stage snow blower, the 1st stage is an auger that digs the snow lose & pulls it to the center of the machine, this runs at a low rpm. the 2nd stage, is a high er speed fan type disc with paddles, it picks up the snow from the 1st stage and "blows" it out and away from the machine. thus yuo have the term, "snow blower".

HI
2 Stage means that it moves the snow twice. First it scoops it off the ground and pushes it to the second area which throws it in the desired direction. There are two separate parts which move the snow.
A single stage one would be like an electric broom type. It has a lot of power to throw snow forward, but it won't throw it far to the sides.
Hope that helps

That it has a 2 stage snow pick/ejection system. Instead of relying on just the auger to pick up the snow and throw it out, it has a second auger that works at a higher speed (geared higher) so that it shoots the snow out. This means there is less work on the engine and main auger so you can get done faster.
Hope that help.

I just bought a MTD 2 stage snow blower and it doesn't have a manual. What kind of oil does it take?
Feb 15, 2008 by John O | Posted in Maintenance & Repairs
use 30 weight oil, you should be able to find this in the lawn and garden areas of hardware or home improvement stores. you can go to mtd's web site and search for a manual so that you can get parts numbers if you every need to order them
Adam D | Feb 15, 2008
the manual should be available on the net
google it

If the engine is a briggs they recommend 30wt above 32 degrees and 10w30 below 32. Kohler is the same.

single stage snow blower?
Nov 30, 2007 by Thepopeis1 | Posted in Other - Home & Garden
i just bought a 5.5hp 2 stage snow blower but after i thought about it. it seamed like the single stage 4 hp was not a bad deal for for the monney at $300 less than the 2 stage. but i was trying to figer are the single stages eney good the look like they are not worth a crap
Some of the old Gilson single stage snow blowers were very good. Only real difference in the single stage and the 2 stage is how far it will throw the snow.
and how fast you can go through the snow that may be deep.
A 2 stage will move alot more heavy snow faster than a single stage will. Time to do the job is what makes the difference.
If speed is not what you are really wanting then a single stage will work just fine. Beat heck out of a snow shovel lol.

Snowblower question-Blower impeller works but the auger blades dont on a craftsman Blower, What is the Problem?
Feb 27, 2009 by MNMaddog | Posted in Maintenance & Repairs
2 stage Sears Snow blower - Upper stage to discharge works great but the lower auger spins free. I believe the problem to be in the gear box...Any other suggestions?
There is a shear pin on the shaft to the auger. I would check that first. It is the most common culprit of your situation.
This might help you also.

Locate old shear pin and head to nearest Sears store,,they are usually in stock in Lawn & Garden. Or type in "shear pin" on sears.com website for several choices..OR,,,enter SearsPartsDirect website with your entire machine model number to see a diagram and order part you need. Spring is almost here,,,Finally ! Good Luck.

Help! How to fix Craftsman Snowblower that won't shoot snow.?
Dec 25, 2008 by LIFEGIRL28 | Posted in Maintenance & Repairs
Hi,
I have a Craftsman dual stage snow blower ( Model C950-52109-0, 9HP, 2 inch). It's about 4-5 yrs old. When it was time to use it, the auger drive clutch lever was very loose and the blower could not turn the auger and pick up the snow and shoot it.
I have noticed that the auger drive belt was loose and bought a new one. My problem is that between the Traction Drive pulley and the Engine pulley there was a spring tension (165x159) that is broken in half so I bought this part as well.
My problem is that this spring is very tensed and cannot be stretched to join both ends (left part holding the idle pulley bar and a hole on the right hand side).
How can I put back that spring tension?????
Thanks!
get a wrench, if that does not work get a bigger wrench.

Try clamping on a pair of vice grips and you should be able stretch it.

a good pair of pliers and a screw driver. The springs can be tough and dangerous
