After starting, allow the engine to warm up before undergoing any heavy loads. In very cold weather, a slightly richer mix may be required to help the engine run smooth. Once warmed up, this snow thrower will not blog down under heavier loads. Use common sense when using this machine. A few made mention to the fact that snow seems to accumulate on the tires causing them to freeze and become locked and no longer turn. Others claimed that the unit did not clear down to the pavement, leaving as much as an 1″ of snow on the ground however others showed no problems in this area and claimed that those having problems were Pushing down on the handles instead of Pulling up on them, thus keeping the front of the unit on the ground and not elevated. The Toro Power Clear 21OR 38587 (est. $580) is best for moderate snowfalls up to 8 inches. The gas model can clear a 21 inch path, and can throw the snow up to 30 feet. The 38587 does not have a headlight or electric starter. It’s easy to push due to the arguer which scrapes the surface.
