i have a sears craftsman snow blower and can' t see any drain plug on the bottom of the engine. how do you drain the oil? The modle no. # is 143.023800

Mine is on the right side as your standing behind it. There is a tube that comes out with a plug in it. This is to get the oil out and away from the base the motor sits on GL

I have a sears craftsman snowblower. It runs for a few minutes and then cuts dies out. We choke it and it starts again for a few minutes. It will run for a little if we leave it choked. is the gas bad?

try loosening the fuel cap.
if that cures it the vent in the cap is plugged. if not back the gas needle valve [ under the float bowl] out 1/2 turn
its a fuel flow problem
did you store it with gas in it ? varnish build...

I'm looking at purchasing a craftsman snow blower which has 15.5 torque. I know Sears has started pricing the newer models speced with Torque vs previous HP. Does any one know how a model with 15.5 torque compare to 10.5 HP

You need to know the RPM (revolutions per minute) or "constant" of the motor. Once you know that, you can determine the horsepower by dividing the RPM by 5252 and multiplying the answer by the torque, which in your case is 15.5

Try starting it first, If that doesnt work, get a small bottle of Sta-bil and put that in the gas tank. You could remover the air filter located on the top of the engine, and spray some carbuerator cleaner in there ,that will dissolve any varnish...
