Nov 17, 2008 by john w | Posted in Maintenance & Repairs
i have a sears craftsman snow blower and can' t see any drain plug on the bottom of the engine. how do you drain the oil? The modle no. # is 143.023800
Mine is on the right side as your standing behind it. There is a tube that comes out with a plug in it. This is to get the oil out and away from the base the motor sits on GL

should be aplug on lower part of motor usually square in shape
Dave | Nov 17, 2008
Sounds funny, but you have to take the dip stick out and tilt the blower to drain out of the filler tube. If you have the manual it will tell you that.

Craftsman snow blower, How do I get to the pin valve in the carburater?
Dec 20, 2008 by clmcake | Posted in Maintenance & Repairs
It is snowing and my snowblower is not starting , Help!
Hi Robert T, What are some of the more simple details of starting. I have no manual. Live in NE and having big storm. I just inherited snaowblaower from my dad. P
The only way to get to the pin valve is to dismantle the carburetor. Take it off the blower and carefully remove the float bowl. There are lots of books around that give detailed instructions about how to do all this. Hopefully you have eliminated all the more common reasons for not starting. If the pin valve is the problem then go buy a rebuild kit and a maintenance book and.
Actually if you don't know to get to the pin valve just take the whole blower to a repair shop and let them fix the starting problem. It probably will be less expensive in the long run.
I have been rebuilding small engines for quite a while and someone trying to learn how to do it during a snowstorm usually results in a big mess. I have made tens of thousands of dollars off these messes.
It is much easier for an amateur to replace the whole carburetor. Just take the old one off and take it to a small engine supply dealer.

Where can I get wheels for a Craftman snow blower thats 14 years old?
Feb 22, 2009 by Johnny R | Posted in Maintenance & Repairs
Where I can get wheels for Craftsman Snow blower model number 536.884780? The rims are 13 inches and made of plastic and they snapped on me. the part number is 336664, and they are no longer available. It runs great but its 14 years old. Can't find any wheels that fit in any local repair shops.
Take a wheel/tire off and bring it with you to Lowe's, Home Depot, or most any garden supply store and ask them to match something up with what you have. They're pretty common.
life_loverfl | Feb 22, 2009
Johnny,,I looked in sears parts and saw the wheels are discontinued, but also saw they were a spoke type wheel. See link attached with a company that can probably provide you with parts that will do the job. You will probably need to call them to discuss actual parts. Good Luck,Regards, Mike
