What a blast! Explore Baltimore County

Last week's in confidence-breaking snow blocked roads and driveways and also opened the way for neighbors to staff neighbors.

On Oakdale Avenue, off Edmondson Avenue by a hair's breadth east of North Rolling Passage, residents worked together to keep the byway someone's cup of tea and driveways clear and to keep from getting chalet fever.

"There was a small army of people who were out there shoveling every day," said Susan Koches, president of the Oak Surmount Community Association who lives on the row.

Those who had electricity hosted the children of families whose homes had helpless power, she said.

At least three residents -- Bill Dorland, Sumptuous Foks and John Engers -- Euphemistic pre-owned their snow-blowers to clear the in someone's bailiwick, Koches said.

"I was current out and getting groceries for people, and I was work people and reminding them to raid their cell phones in prove they lose power," Koches said.

The superior point for some on Oakdale Avenue was a blizzard dinner social gathering when "Everybody was feeling a itsy-bitsy house-bound," Koches said.

how do I start a Honda snow blower with an electric start?

Your snowthrower should have come with a short 6' or so extension cord, if it is a push button type. Plug in at a thick three pronged into a dry wall outlet and inside housing on snowthrower end. Make sure you have fresh gas & plastic safety key is installed. Make sure you have primed engine & choke is engaged. Press away!!
It took several presses before I started mine--it's a heck of alot easier than a pull start, especialy if you have a big engine.

If you don't know, it might not be a good idea for you to own one.

If there is no battery, then run an extension cord out to it and plug it in. Press start.

I have a Honda HS828 snow blower and the auger stopped working. How does the auger pulley attach to the shaft?

I have checked the shear pins/bolts and they are fine. The pulley belt and tension-er are okay. The auger pulley is detached from the drive shaft for the auger. My question is, how does the pulley attach to the drive shaft; is it just welded or is there a part missing?
Yes. Same part. Guess that answers my question. I guess I will have to weld it back together. I was hoping I wouldn't have to pull the entire thing apart.

Not sure if I`m looking at the same part as you. #4 ?

how cani adjust the weight away from the auger skid shoes on a honda hs55 track type snow blower?

the first stage auger shoes wear out very quickly because of excessive weight on the front end of snow blower!

How about using a heavy shelf bracket and cut it so that you can put some caster wheels on it, drill the holes in the auger housing and use a steel plate on the inside and the angle bracket on the outside, bolt it from the inside out and mount the wheels, you know the type with the bolt/threaded stem, I would use at least a 7/16 grade 8 bolts and some thread lock.

Well, actually thats what they're for...to take the wear and be easily/relatively cheap to replace..however if they are steel, any small welding shop should be able to build them back up(or surface new ones) using"hard surfacing rod" which is a much tougher steel, thereby extending their life 3-4 fold. Also there are heavy duty"commercial"shoes available for some Honda SBs,check w/your dealer. He will need Model and Serial Numbers to check.

Sparks come out of Snow blower?

Hi guys,
I have a Honda HS520AS snow blower.
This evening i was about to put it away after doing my driveway, but then I saw I had missed a spot. So I started it up again and it made a BANG and sparks came out of the exhaust. Is that a bad thing or is that normal? (btw im sorry if im a total noob)

Honda's are real good machines. I am thinking she might have loaded up a bit from the quick hot re-start.and what you saw was a backfire. Start her back up and keep an eye on it. You should be OK but if this starts happening again. bring it in for service. These machines are too expensive to take chances with but will last a life time if maintained.

snow blower?

I have a 5 year old, honda 4 stroke snow blower. I have drained the gas every year, but this year it is acting a little slugish. Can I add a little carburator cleaner to clean up the carb to improve performance or will the cleaner harm the snow blower. There is no fuel filter on this model.

You have no idea how common this problem has become since the introduction of ethanol in all Gas blends. These new blends are wreaking havoc with small engine carburators everywhere. The best solution is to remove the carburator and have it cleaned in a hydrosonic bath (most small engine repair outfits can do this). However, you may get good results using gumout or a similar spray product which will cost less. Either way make sure you use "Stabil" fuel stabilizer in any fuel thereafter. It would also be ok to install an inline fuel filter but I suspect there is one inside the tank already.

good idea. spray some into the air intake and mix some thing like gum out with the gas

Start the engine, remove the air cleaner, spray (short bursts) carb cleaner down the throat, too much will stall the engine.

above suggestions are good. Also try a new spark if it hasn't been replaced in a while and check the air filter since you'll have it off anyhow.
