Leaf blower for snow?
Fresh Pow

Could you use a leaf blower to blow light fluffy snow off your car walk etc?
Or would that be a problem?

It works great but like you suspect, just on the lighter fluffy snow. I have the back pack type that I use to blow my drive. works up to 3 " if you have the area to blow it in. When you get high piles its a bit more of a challenge.

Light, fluffy snow blankets the F-M area | WDAY | Fargo, ND

Published November 22 2010 Light, fluffy snow blankets the F-M area Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - It's a lot of snow, but at least it's not heavy, wet snow. This certainly piled up a little more than we were expecting, and while most people did not seem to relish today’s clean up, most of them were happy that it was a light fluffy snow.

    By: Rob Kupec , WDAY

The first big snowfall of the winter brought mixed reactions from people. For many firing up the snow blower to clean out walks and driveways was just an added chore. Mark Hansel of Moorhead has a system for when to shovel and when to break out the blower.

“If it's light and fluffy I'll just push it off, but once I've got to work real hard and work up a sweat, I'll get out the blower. So today qualifies. It's a blower day.”

For others clearing the fluffy white mess away is part of their job. Deb Langer began working in the dorms at Concordia this summer and today was her first round of shoveling walks at the college, keeping the paths clear so students could get to class.

“I've been here since five this morning and this would be the sixth time that I've done this. Got it all cleaned out and it all dropped down, got about two feet of snow and had to start all over again.”

And while many saw the deep white snow as extra work, we found one man at the Ace Hardware in Moorhead who was hoping to see some green. Darrell Shamp of Fargo was hoping that a 12 dollar investment in a new shovel would pay off in spades in a door to door snow removal business.

“Ask them if they want their sidewalks and driveways shoveled and they ask me what do you charge? I'm like what ever you want to give me.”

While this was the first shovelable snow of the winter season, it will not be our last. And if this winter continues at this type of pace, most of us will be looking at snow storms as a chore and forgetting about the beauty that a fluffy white snow can bring.
