If you go to Target, Home Depot or any of the other big chains that sell the Toro Electric Shovel you will probably find the same thing that I did...that it is SOLD OUT. Why? Because this is one of the most helpful tools to have ever been placed on the market. It works fairly well on small... -
Surprisingly Excellent
This is review written with Montana winter experience. The reviews were generally good with this item so I bought one, mainly for the convenience of easily cleaning the drawbridge, walkways, entry, and in front of my garage without a shovel. This device is pre-assembled, easily carried, easy to...
I'm in the market for probably a medium sized gas snowblower, preferably one under $500. I recently moved to Indiana and our driveway is about 1/4 mile long and i am tired of taking a whole evening to shovel it by hand.
Not to sound like a commercial but... Ariens snow blowers have been extremely reliable for me for 20 years. I live in PA, with a lot of heavy wet snow... have yet to have a clog.

Briggs & Stratton, MTD or Techumsah. What is the best brand out there, reasonably priced in the 22,24 inch size.
I don't think MTD builds their own engines. According to a small engine shop nearby Tecumseh is not manufacturing engines at the moment, but parts are still available. That makes Briggs&Stratton the only option of the three.
I'm sick of all this snow! If I buy a snowblower, I want one that will do the big jobs, like all the mountains the plows leave at the end of my driveway, not a lightweight that can't handle it.
So, where do I start?
There are several good ones on the market. What you need from what you have discribed is a 8-10 horsepower,2 stage blower with electric start and chains for the wheels Craftsman is a Sears model. Lowes and Home Depot usually sell MTD.

Maine Voices: Neighbors serve as sturdy line of defense against life's real ...
George Zimmerman was patrolling his neighborhood with a gun, on the lookout for suspicious activity, on the night that he allegedly shot the 17-year-old Martin.
Lots of Americans share Zimmerman's view that arming oneself is the best way -- indeed, the only way -- to protect one's safety. The Press Herald recently reported that ammunition sales are skyrocketing as Americans build up their personal arsenals ("Non-military ammunition sales rising," April 7).
I believe that the best way to protect ourselves against the real threats that we face is to get to know our neighbors. Not just to recognize them and wave hello as they drive by, but to reach out and know enough about their lives so that we can help them in a pinch -- and they will do the same for us.
What are the most likely dangers in our lives?
It's not strangers lurking in the bushes, ready to leap out at us. We are far more likely to slip on the ice and twist an ankle, or to need help during an electrical outage. Some of us might seek shelter when a relative gets violent. Those are times when neighbors could make a real difference.

We have snowblowers that are still performing 25 years later. We have a lot of product that was built in the 1960s and is still running. We still design our products so they are repairable. But Americans want American quality at Chinese prices.
