A new leaf
Japanese gardeners invented the earliest leaf blowers–which took the manifestation of hand-pumping implements that cleared leaves and twigs from garden plots–in the 19th century, but it wasn’t until the 1970s that Japanese engineers modernized the blower by attaching a hose and a motor. The devices, which afterwards integrated the technology of potent chemical mist blowers, were brought to the US tartly thereafter.
Early fall
Several California cities, including Berkeley, Beverly Hills, Laguna Careen and West Hollywood, almost in a second banned the gas-powered machines. Regardless, by 1997 blower sales passed 1 million per year in the US and were steadily increasing.
Aloha means hello, goodbye and shhhh
Senate Bill 466, which became law as Act 206 on July 7 without Gov. Lingle’s signature, essentially prohibits the use of leaf blowers on or imminent residential property except within designated duration periods. It also authorizes counties to over ordinances that are more restrictive, in which cover the more restrictive provision would always have primacy.

My gas leaf blower is not working?
Nov 29, 2006 by egg_sammash | Posted in Maintenance & Repairs
It's only one year old and we have only used it twice. It is a gas blower and it is the type you have to mix the gas with oil. Well, we did that and changed out the gas since it had set up over the year. We used it last week and it worked fine. Now we can't get it to start. We can't take it back to the store for it has been over a year now but we have only used it twice. Also we did try putting in a new spark plug. I don't know what else to try. Any suggestions?
I have found that when they set a long time they will build up of dirt in the muffler, you will have to take it apart and clean the screen inside.

So sorry.

Is your mixture of gas/oil correct?
Is the switch on?
Try using the choke.
Carburetor?
I bought a cheap weed eater from walmart and hardly used it and the carburetor was screwed, luckily my friend is handy at small engines and fixed it because a new one cost as much as the weed eater itself.

Should a Heil gas furnace blower kick on for 5 seconds every time after it completes a heating cycle?
Nov 06, 2007 by Jay in Orlando | Posted in Maintenance & Repairs
I have never had gas heat before. My Heil furnace goes through this cycle -- it ignites the furnace, warms about 20 seconds or so, kicks on the blower, and heats the house quickly and beautifully. Then, it clicks off. Five seconds later, the blower kicks back on for five seconds and then goes off. It does this every time. Is that how it works? If so, why?
No it shouldn't do that. The blower off time delay should be adjusted on the furnace control board. The control board has a built in timer that shuts the fan off. If it shuts off too fast the heat left over in the furnace can cause it to come back on. On older furnaces there is a temperature switch that does it. If your furnace is older, then the temperaure switch can be adjusted. For more info, check out the furnace page at www.hvac-for-beginners.com

Maybe you should upgrade your furnace to the latest model, the Sig Heil.
Al-Maghrebi | Nov 06, 2007
There's usually an adjustable setting for the temperature the blower kicks on at. Sounds like yours may be set too low.
The part of the heat exchanger where the sensor is located is probably being heated by the rest of it when the blower stops blowing cooler air on the part where the sensor's located.

How do I start a gas leaf blower?
Nov 04, 2006 by Marques K | Posted in Maintenance & Repairs
I'm having trouble starting my gas leaf blower. I lost the manual and i see that there is a choke and blow speed and I know that there is a certain method to starting it. I just can't figure it out!
Thanks
Step 1: Make sure you have the correct gas (Petrol) mix, which should be 2-stroke, 40:1. If in doubt, empty the tank (use for cleaning purpose), and make a new mix, precisely!
Step 2: There is a little "rubber bubble" near where the choke lever is. Press and release it 6 times, slowly.
Step 3: Put the blow speed on its slowest setting.
Step 4: Switch the On/Off switch into "On".
Step 5: Put the choke to "full on".
Step 6: Pull the starter rope 2 times, not more.
Step 7: Put the choke to "half"
Step 8: Pull the starter rope again....it should start running.
Step 9: Put the choke to "off".
If that doesn't work, you might have dirt in your spark plug. Needs to remove and clean.
No point in trying "for hours" if it doesn't start after above procedure, you just flood the engine. Need to wait hours between trials......

How can I fix my gas leaf blower?
Sep 20, 2008 by truk694 | Posted in Maintenance & Repairs
Hi. My gas leaf blower won't start. The other day we let a friend borrow our blower. I think he put just plain gas into the blower instead of the gas mixed with oil that is needed for a blower to run. I really do not know what to do at this point except to go buy a new blower. Any suggestions on how to tell if its plain gas in the blower? Or how to drain the gas? Any other suggestions would be appreciated as well
UHOH, if he put straight gas in it, it could be ruined, turn it upside down dump out all the gas, put new in,(proper mix), try to start it, is it hard to turn? easy? if it feels too easy,,, It has no compression, get a new one.If its really hard, take out the spark plug, try again, still too hard? get a new one. If all that was wrong,, It should have started.
