What is the best snow blower for a 100ft plus straight driveway?

I'm buying a snow blower for my dad for one of his Christmas gifts. What would be the best one?

Agreed on something around 6hp for a minimum on engine power but also consider going for a 2-stage model instead of a single-stage model. You'll be glad you did. You'll want it to last for quite a few years so when you see how steep some of the price tags get, just divide that number by 10 & figure that's what it'll cost per-year over 10 years. Not so bad when you think of it that way. If you really want all-out dependability & longevity with very little chance on breakdown, hence very minimum maintenance repair & cost, go for the Honda. Right now they'll seem major expensive but when you're out there in frigid 10deg weather with 2' of snow, you're gonna be real happy that it starts within the first 2 pulls.

Something that hooks to his truck

Well I have a Yard Man that is almost 10 years old now and I swear buy it. I wouldn't get anything too small though.

I have a Toro snowblower and like it. Used it yesterday for the first time this year, started on second pull of starting rope just like usual. Buy a good brand name like Toro and it will last a good long time and won't give many problems along the way.

What's the best snow-blower for the lowest price?

And if handy, do you know of a place that would deliver such a snow-blower in Colorado? Thanks!

You will have to shop around your area. Sears has a good variety of snow blowers and will deliver. Get one with a Honda engine or a Briggs and Staten. Keep away from tahcumpsy engines

what is the best snow blower for a average size drive way?

my drive way can hold 4 cars.....i dont know exactly how big it is
what is a good enough snow blower for winters in canada...

thanks

Surprisingly my 22 inch Ariens handled my drive. Its up hill and a wide pad at the top. It was light weight enough to handle easy but it went thru the normal stuff easy and the 10 inch a little slower.A self propelled is a luxury to me lol, but thats what I have now. GL

when its cold out there you dont want to be in it anymore than you have to ...get the widest machine you can handle 26 in. or so...i use an old ariens 32 in. wide machine...wider machine = less passes

What is the best snow blower for a 100ft driveway?

We typically get snow falls of 6-8" but have gotten snowfall up to 20" the past few years. The off brand 5HP version just isn't cutting it, so time to get good one. Thanks for the replies.

Ariens, Simplicity, Toro & Honda all make excellent machines. You won't go wrong with anyone of these.

Toro, Honda -- if small you can get away with an electric, If bigger get a gas model.

Here's some suggestions...

not trying to be a smarta*s, but the one that works

What is the best snow blower to buy for my house...?

If you live in an area with a signficant amount of snow and alot of area to clear, buy a 2-stage preferably with a Honda or Techumseh engine. Many 2 stage snowthrowers are similar and the price differences are usually in the engine size, mouth width, and electric start.
A 20" , 7-9 HP is usually plenty for a homeowner application. Electric start is a cool feature to have especailly when its slippery and you don't have much traction. Also, take a look at tine construction, you want serrated tines which will break through ice, most of the 2-stages have this feature.
There are other minor differences between models: lights, # of speeds, etc. but IMO these are just 'nice to have' features which allow retailers to jack up price.
